I reach up to touch my nose. Sure enough, it is dripping a little blood. Wes comes up to me. “

What the fuck are you on?” He asks, tilting my head up and looking in my eyes. He pinches the bridge of my nose.

“Coke. Ecstasy..” I say.

I sound funny from him pinching my nose, and I laugh.

“Dangerous mixture.” He stops pinching my nose and I lower my head. He dabs at my nose with the sleeve of his hoodie. “Give me.” He demands, holding out his hand. I give him my hand and he shakes his head with a sigh. “The vial, Abbey.”

“No.”

“You can’t do anymore. You cut up your nose.”

“It’s fine. I can use the other side.”

He squeezes my hand. “Abbey. Please.”

“No. I’m a grown adult. I wish everyone would stop bossing me around.” I say firmly.

“Fine!” Wes yells, putting his hands in the air. He turns and starts to walk away.

“She is really pretty” I call out.

“Who?” He asks, turning and looking back at me.

“The girl you were talking to all day.”

“It’s not what you think.”

“It’s fine. I knew you’d move on. I just thought it would take a little longer.” I know I’m talking really fast, but my body is still tingling.

“We’re just friends. I’ve known her for years.”

“We were just friends.”

“No. We were never just friends.”

“I miss you.” I admit after a moment of us just staring at each other.

“I miss you too.”

“I don’t think I can do this.” I whisper.

“The high won’t last.”

“No. This.” I wave to the space between us. “I can’t see you without it hurting. I can’t not see you either. It hurts just as much. It all just hurts so much.”

“I know. I hated watching you with Skylar all night.”

My phone buzzes in my pocket. I know it’s Sue without checking it. It was way past time that I should be back on my bus.

“I have to go.”

“Let me walk you back to your bus.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I’ll sleep better knowing you got to your bus in one piece.”
