"And you two met in Montana?" Anne-Marie asked.

"We did," he said. "She was working in this tiny town near where we were filming."

"And you talked her into coming to Tennessee with you?" Anne-Marie asked. "I heard it's beautiful over there."

"It is beautiful, but I'm persuasive," Owen said.

"How's working with Keanu?" Kennedy asked. "I heard he was in that movie."

"He's amazing. Just like you would imagine. Such a nice guy."

"Do you have any stories about him?" Kennedy asked, obviously interested.

"I've got stories from the movie, but most of them are about this guy, Victor. He's the director's assistant, and he's hilarious. He's got this car, this little tricked-out hatchback sports car with LED lights and a souped-up engine. He races it. I went with him one time."

"You went car racing in L.A.?" Sasha asked laughing.

"I did actually. I'm glad I'm still alive."

I had already heard the story before. He told me on the phone. I just sat and listened as he recounted some other things to them. Warren and Owen seemed to be at the center of conversation.

"Owen, I'm trying to talk your girlfriend into coming to work with me." It was Zack who made the statement a little while later.

Owen turned to look at him. "My girlfriend?" he asked. His grip tightened on my hand.

"Yes. Corey. I want her to come work at the restaurant with me. She's amazing at your dad's office. Better than Addison. And with you being busy in Cali… her nights are free. She can come on over to my place."

Owen made a face when Zack said that. "I'm only in Cali for one more month," he said.

"Do you have any jobs lined up after this one?" Shep asked.

"Yeah, after Cali, it'll be somewhere else," Zack said. "If so, I'm taking her."

"If so, I'm taking her with me," Owen said. His thumb rubbed the back of my hand, and I held onto him securely, letting him know I would go anywhere he asked me to go.

"Do you know what's next?" Emily Fairchild asked Owen from across the table.

"I am looking at one script. It's a romantic comedy. I’m not sure about it yet."

"I see you as a romantic comedy guy," Bailey said.

"That was kind of the vibe when he played Shep, even though August's movie wasn't really a comedy."

"Where's that one going to be set?" Emily asked.

"Miami, I think," Owen said.

It was Miami. He had already told me all of this. He was leaning toward not doing it, which was why he was being vague with everyone. It was a big opportunity, but he was still thinking about it.

"Corey, what are you doing at Charlie Atkinson's clinic?" Emily asked.

"I’m doing receptionist work, mostly. Our main receptionist is on maternity leave right now. I'm also doing cleaning and scheduling. Whatever needs to get done. It's a gigantic facility. Have you ever been there?"

"Unfortunately, yes," she said, grabbing her wrist and causing us all to laugh.

"This is why I want her at my restaurant," Zack said. "I see her at PT, and she's running around, helping people, and doing about ten things at once. when I met her the second time, she followed up with something I said the first time about my dog. Who does that? I just can't get good help anymore. Do you have any cousins in Montana? Are there any more of you over there?"

Our conversation was interrupted by our servers who had come to bring our food. He had been joking about my theoretical cousins, anyway, so we just laughed it off. Service was family style with eight or ten trays set in the middle of the table. There were pizzas and pasta dishes, and we all got busy serving ourselves.
