The hospital bed was warm and comfortable, and I wasn’t ready to wake up yet.

But that all changed when I heard three sexy male voices talking at once.

“Is she awake?”

“I think she’s waking up.”

“Should we get a doctor?”

My eyelids felt heavy as I opened them and my three sexy lovers came into focus.

“Good morning,” I said as my eyes adjusted to the light.

“Goodafternoon,” Xavier corrected as he squeezed my hand. “How are you feeling?”

Their eyes were red, and all three wore white hospital gowns, I noticed, which didn’t make them any less sexy — if anything, their strong tattooed bodies made the gowns lookgood.

“I’m okay,” I said, although my throat felt like I’d shoved an electric mixer down there, my mouth tasted like an ashtray, and I had a pounding headache. “Where am I?”

“The hospital,” Jackson said. “You blacked out in the ambulance.”

I remembered smoke… fire… Nathan’s mom’s house…

“Nathan,” I croaked, trying to sit up.

“It’s okay,” Adrian said, and touched my chest to guide me back to the pillow. “He’s in jail. He can’t hurt you anymore.”

“What about you?” I asked, touching the bandage that had been wrapped around his knuckles. “I remember you punching him?”

“The cops took a sympathetic perspective,” Adrian said, and glanced at the other two men. “They both have selective memories, as far as that’s concerned.”

Thank God.

I relaxed and closed my eyes, glad I hadn’t gotten him into any more trouble with the police.

“Nathan’s mother?” I asked. “I think he killed her.”

Jackson shook his head.

“She died a few weeks ago from natural causes,” he said. “Apparently there was a lot of black mold in that house, and it made her ill for years. Her bad knees meant that she never went down to the basement, so it was the cleanest part of the house. So when she died, Nathan saw an opportunity to keep you there.”

I shivered and tried not to think about what might have happened if we hadn’t broken up. Right now, I had more pressing things to consider.

“So, am I allowed to go home?”

The men looked at each other.

“We were wondering about that,” Xavier said. “The doctor says you’re fine physically, so I guess once he’s discharged you, you’ll need to decide which home you’d prefer to live in.”

“If you’d prefer to live in Cora’s house…” Xavier started, but there was no way I was going to leave them. Not now, not after everything we’d been through together.

“I want to live with you,” I said. “I mean, if you want me to…”

Their faces broke into smiles, and Jackson squeezed my leg.

“Of coursewe want you to come home with us,” Xavier said. “You’re part of our family now.”
