“Unfortunately, they were killed in an explosion at our plant. Sad news, really. Somehow, they’d fallen and hit their heads, trapped in one of the lower-level closets.” Alex laughed, his brother giving him a high-five.

“Okay, okay,” grinned Martin. “I can get with some sunshine and bikini babes for a few days. We’ll figure it all out.”

“They’re headed to Galveston and have a booking on the Emerald Princess, headed to Bermuda,” said Code. “The captain is going to verify once they’re on board, but we’ve asked him to hold back. Just have his security keep an eye on him.”

“The plan is to take a chopper to the ship and get on board before them,” said Nine. “Once on board, we’re going to try to keep them separate from the other passengers as long as we can. Security is going to be checking their luggage to ensure there are no weapons, but these guys are slippery.”

“Hey, Nine?” called Antoine. “We just got word from the sheriff that two bodies were found inside the RMN building. Females, early thirties.”

“The sisters,” frowned Gaspar. “Those bastards killed their sisters and left them there to die.”

“Brotherly love has a whole new meaning,” frowned Ian. “Anything to link the brothers to their deaths?”

“Nothing yet, but the coroner is double-checking everything,” said Antoine. “One thing we can count on is that neither of them is very bright. I’m headed there now with Gabi to be sure they haven’t missed anything.”

“How about Casey? Where is she?” asked Ghost.

“She’s at the restaurant today with Luc, Gabe, and Otto. She’s still a bit shaken but wanted to get back to work. I think she’ll be alright now, but even better once we catch these two.”

“I worry about her,” said Nine. “Do we have a place for her out here?”

“She’s fine, Nine,” smirked Ian. “The boys are watching her for now. Once this is over with, she can make up her mind. But to answer your question, yes, we could find a place for her out here. Hell, Matthew offered to build a high-end restaurant attached to the café. For folks who want a high-level dining experience. She said she’d think about it.”

“Gotta love Pops,” smirked Gaspar.

“Okay, who’s going to the ship?” asked Nine. “I know it’s the four of us. Who else?”

“Me,” said Miller.

“Us,” said Trak and Dex. “That’s seven. It should be enough.”

“Let’s go. We want to get on board before they even arrive.”

Casey finished cleaning her knives, sheathing them in the leather purse that held them. Otto, Gabe, and Luc watched her carefully, worried about her mental state. Sensing their eyes on her, she turned, staring at them.

“Guys, I’m good. Really. They’re headed to Galveston. I don’t have anything to worry about. You can go.”

“Let us walk you home,” said Otto.

“Please. Let me do this. I’ll be just fine.” Otto looked at Gabe and Luc, knowing she needed to feel a sense of independence and safety.

“Okay. But we’ll be seconds away if you need us,” he said, handing her a necklace.

“What’s this?” she asked.

“It’s an alarm that will come straight to us. We’ll hear it no matter where you are. Depress the button on the back, and we’ll be there.”

“Thank you,” she said, pulling it over her head. She walked the men to the front door, locking it behind them. They waved at her as she walked down the street. It was still relatively crowded despite the late hour.

“She’ll be okay,” said Otto. Gabe and Luc smirked at one another.

“You trying to convince us or yourself?” asked Gabe.

“Fuck off.”

Casey looked behind her, seeing the three men watch her as she walked toward her small apartment. It was literally only a few blocks away, but they were concerned for her once again. Turning the corner, she smiled seeing the clear path to her front doorstep. As she approached, she heard someone shuffling in the space beside her stoop.

“Who’s there?” she called, holding the necklace in her hand.
