I pull on a loose pair of pants and a t-shirt I find in my closet. They aren’t mine, but I don’t care.

“I know that. That’s why you need to talk to Ms. Greenly and get her to come out too.” I pick the tablet up just in time to see Stevie making a face at me.

“Why would you want our Practical Magics instructor there? And why do you think she can get through whatever wards the heirs have on their lair?”

“I want her here because she smells like a demon to me, and from what I’ve read in Supe History notes, she’s a lot more than just a teacher.”

Stevie’s still got her lip curled in disgust.

“Plus, she can ask Chonk to bring the lot of you here.”

“Ooooh, yeah. Good call. I’ll ask her after class today.”

“Stevie, don’t ask her. Make sure you convince her, the sooner the better.”

She gets a look—furrowed brow and pursed lips—whenever she’s worried. “Why? What’s so important?”

“I’ll tell you when you get here.”

She frowns at me. “Dove, you can’t say something like that and not give me the whole story. I’ll be worried all day.”

“You don’t have time for it right now.”

She huffs at me. “Fine. But it’sonlybecause I do have to run, though. Did you know they reopened the Burrow?”

“I didn’t.”

“Yeah, they figured out the flood was a result of sabotage.”

Sabotage? Seems strange that anyone would want to sabotage such a cute shop. “Seriously?”

“Yeah. The police put out a statement. Apparently, it was a former employee with a grudge. But, anyway, I do have to go.”

“Yeah, OK. Wish I could come, too.”

“Me too, bitch. Me too. I’ll see ya as soon as I can.”

Stevie ends the call, and I head to the kitchen to stuff my face. The news about the Burrow doesn’t sit right with me.

I don’t run into a single heir on the way to or in the kitchen. Oh well, more food for me. I head to the fridge, noticing for the first time how smooth and polished the floor feels on the soles of my feet.

I glance down at the earthen floor to see it unchanged. And yet…

It definitely feels different.

I grab a plate and pile it high with slices of meat and cheese and then different sliced meat and different cheese, proud of myself that I’m only idly wondering where the heirs might be.

Who cares that it’s only because my mind is already buzzing with memories of the night before.

I shiver as the image of me sitting on Dash’s face flashes in my mind’s eye. The feral, ravenous glint in his eyes as they go fully black at the first taste of me.

My clit pulses at the memory, and I clear it out of my mind and tear off a huge chunk of cheese.

“Hey, what’d that cheese ever do to you?”

I turn to see Enzo leaning in the kitchen doorway, the shadow of stubble on not just his face, but his head too.

“Huh, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you like that.” I nod toward his head.
