The truck rumbles and light snow starts to fall. “What’s that?”

“What’s your dream? For real this time.”

I pull in a heavy breath and stare toward this goliath of a man knowing full well that I won’t be letting go of him anytime soon. “I’ve always wanted to bake. I have these fantasies where I make little hand pies and have my own stand out by the road for folks to stop by. The kids can help and it’s a family thing, you know?”

He nods and puts the truck in drive, heading back out onto the road.

“Where are we going?”

“There’s something I want you to see.”

I keep my hand in his as we drive up the dirt road in darkness. I’m sure I’ve been to this part of the mountain before but in the dark everything looks foreign. The shadow of trees and lights is deceiving and there’s a stream that bubbles beside us I didn’t think existed over here.

We’re driving for about ten minutes when he finally pulls off the road onto a lot of land with a small cabin settled next to the creek. It’s far enough away from neighbors to be private, but it’s still close enough to town and people that it’s accessible to the community.

“I see this cabin every day when I drive down the mountain to come to your house, and every day I picture us there. I see you running with the kids in the back field. I seeme, working on a tractor by that barn, and now I see Peyton’s Pie Stand out front, painted bright red and green with all those sweet pies inside.”

This is a side of Atlas I didn’t think was possible. It’s sentimental and soft.

“Can we look inside?”

“Might be locked up. I’ve only looked from the road.”

“It’s for sale, though. There’s a sign out front.”

“Even more reason it’s locked.”

I roll my eyes and climb down from the truck, looking back at him before I shut the door. “This is the rule you’re worried about breaking, busting into a locked abandoned house?”

He kills the engine to the truck and jumps out with me, lifting me into his arms to carry me through the snow and toward the house. I wasn’t expecting this part, but I don’t complain given I’m wearing next to nothing and it’s pretty freaking cold. That, and I’m against his solid chest, which is a good place to be.

The cabin is situated in the valley and I’m sure in the morning sun, the mountain range is wide and plentiful. Right now, though, everything is dark and the only sound around us is the crunching of snow beneath Atlas’ feet.

We step up onto the front porch and he settles me down before twisting the locked nob. “What’d I tell ya?”

I scan the porch and lift a rock next to a rocking chair and pull out a key. “What’d I tell ya?” There’s a grin on my face.

He laughs. “You’re a naughty girl. I think maybe there’s a spanking in order.”

I glance toward him, biting my bottom lip as I hold back the urge to beg for his cock. This is going well, but I don’t want to rush things. We should let life unfold naturally.

Inside the cabin is warm and pristine. Fresh pine floors stained dark. A fully equipped kitchen with stainless steelappliances and butcher block counters. Built-ins everywhere, a stone fireplace, and a hallway that disappears toward wide-open windows.

“What the hell? How much property is this. Do you know?” I glance toward Atlas as I speak. Good Lord he looks good in this light.

“The listing says twenty-five acres.”

I pass beside the bedrooms. There are five. One master and four smaller rooms that I inadvertently choose for each of the kids, including future children I haven’t had yet. I need to slow down.

“We don’t have to do this right now. I just wanted you to see my dream.” He clears his throat. “A dream I didn’t know of until I met you.”

Throat closed, I stare up at Atlas, tip up onto my toes, and lean against his lips with a fearless abandon that comes with stretching outside my boundaries. He’s perfect. His lips, his tongue, his huge frame that presses against me.

We share a heated look, a gaze of passion that can’t be described with words because there are none. This moment is energy, chemistry, momentum passing between two people that can’t be stopped.

“I’ve been thinking about punishing you,” he groans, gripping my hips tight.

My skin heats as I stare up at him. “Why’s that?”
