Sighing, I shrug. “I don’t have a solid answer for you—”

“That’s not good enough, Haven. Why are you throwing everything away, changing who you are as a person for me?”

The electricity between us surges when our eyes lock. My breathing quickens, and my heart races incredibly fast I feel like it’s beating out of my chest. The world is spinning out of control, and I can’t do anything to stop it. The gravitational pull forcing me toward Alpha is so strong all I can do is step forward and wrap my arms around his neck. I simply need him to hold me.

His arms slide around my back. The feeling of his strong hands on me right now is precisely what I have been craving as he continues to stare at me. His eyes cause me to feel so much emotion in this moment.

“Tell me,” he demands, though it’s much softer this time.

I know the reason.

I’m too scared to tell him.

Or maybe I’m scared in general because I have never felt like this for anyone in my life. I clear my throat. “Alpha, I…” I hesitate because once I say it, it can’t be unsaid.

“Tell me, little lamb,” he urges, slowly walking us backward.

I hit the wall of the bunker, and he presses his hard body against mine. I inhale sharply, feeling every inch of his body against mine, his hand sliding up and caressing my cheek. “I won’t ask again, Haven. Tell me now or never.”

My fingers grip hold of his club cut, needing it for support. I continue to hesitate, and he begins to pull away from me, but I yank him forward, our lips barely a hair’s breadth apart. My hand slides into his hair to hold him so close as I whisper against his lips, “I love you, Alpha. I love you so much I’m willing to give my life for yours. Right here. Today. If I have to.”

A slow smile lights his face, his body pressing harder against mine as his fingers clench in my hair, his lips almost touching mine. “I fucking love you too. But don’t youdaredie for me, Haven. You fuckinglivefor me. That’s how you prove to me you love me. Doyouunderstand?”

A single tear slides down my cheek as I nod, feeling an overwhelming sense of love flowing from him.

My entire life has been about death.

In a way, Alpha’s has been too.

Now we have each other.

We choose life—we choose to live.

“I’ll live for you, Alpha. Always.”

He groans, his fingers gripping my hair tight when he slams his lips to mine. Our tongues collide, dancing a furious tango, my leg instinctively sliding up around his waist, holding him to me. His hand slides down to my ass, his fingers gripping tightly into my cheek as we kiss feverishly like there is no tomorrow.

Just needing this moment.

Just needing each other.

Because let’s face it, there might not be a tomorrow.

The energy and electricity surges between us. There’s no mistaking we are meant to be together. I am absolutely doing the right thing by choosing Alpha. I’m completely lost in him when a buzzer sounds, which forces us to break apart, panting for breath.

He steps back from me, and I reach out for him, drawing him back toward the wall. “That’s the sound of a door opening. Someone’s down here. We have to keep moving.”

He smirks, rearranging his cock in his jeans obviously, and nods. “To be continued at the clubhouse later,” he whispers.

Grinning from ear to ear, I take his hand and lead us to the fire escape. It will take us to the higher levels and avoid anyone we might see on the way. It may be the cheat’s way, but it’s always the way to avoid being caught. We reach the fire escape, and I pull the door open, letting Alpha walk through first as I check to ensure no one is watching. The coast is clear, so I follow up the stairs behind him.

“What level do we need?” Alpha asks.

“The top. That’s where Vulture and Crow will be.”

He glances up, looking at the three flights of stairs. “Thank God this isn’t a tall building,” he quips.

I poke him in his well-defined abs. “Like you’d have trouble. You’re fit as fuck. Stop your complaining, and let’s go.”
