I gathered her against my chest and kissed the top of her head. I wasn’t sure there were many other women out there who would be secure enough to view my history with women as a pro, not a con. For a moment, I felt guilty that my promiscuity made me more desirable to women while Abbie’s reputation had been a cross she’d had to bear. One she’d embraced and made her own, but not one she’d chosen, and it had caused her a lot of pain over the years.

But nobody knew Abbie’s history better than I did, and as far as I was concerned, every moment of her past was a layer that made her the beautiful, brilliant, resilient woman she was today. I was proud of her, and I was going to do everything in my power to make her proud of me, too.

There was one thing I was curious about, however.

“Are you really going to mark this off your bingo card and flash it around out there?” I asked.

Abbie’s eyes sparkled as she drew back far enough to look up at me. “Abso-fucking-lutely.”

Abbie

Did I show thatgirl the cross on my bingo card?

You bet I did.

Will

The next morning, Iwoke up with Abbie’s panties on my pillow.

Abbie

Will and I stoodside by side in front of the full-length mirror in his bedroom. He was stupid sexy in a black and white tux, his hair slicked back, and his cheeks smooth and splashed with a cologne that made me want to wrap my legs around his face. I looked fantastic, too, in a silver silk floor-length gown, my hair pulled back in a sexy tail, my lashes extra long, and my eyes dark and smoky.

“Whose idea was it to make this thing black tie glamour?” I asked, running my hands over the slippery fabric and enjoying the feel of it on my skin.

“Birdie’s.”

“She really is a genius.”

Will frowned at himself in the mirror and tweaked his narrow tie, then brushed his hands down the lapels of his jacket and twisted side to side. Suddenly, his focus shifted, and when his blue eyes swept over my reflection in the mirror, his expression darkened.

He slid an arm around my waist and pulled me against his side. “Damn, you look good, Ellison.”

I leaned into him and smiled. “Welook good.”

Will dropped his hand from my hip to run his palm over my arse, and his eyebrows shot up. “You’re not wearing underwear.”

“I can’t have a visible panty line in this dress!”

He growled and nuzzled my neck. “I’m going to be hard all night thinking about you walking around with your pussy bare.”

I watched myself in the mirror, my mouth stretching into an evil grin. “No bra, either,” I added, then squealed when he nipped my shoulder.

“You’re a fucking tease, but you’re going to pay for it later.”

I arched an eyebrow at him in the mirror. “I’m counting on it.”

He released me and tugged at the sleeves of his jacket, then fiddled with his tie again. I loved every version of Will. I loved the one who was cocky and confident, like in the bedroom and behind the bar, where he knew exactly what to do and how to do it well. I loved him as a father, witnessing his transformation into the provider and protector he always wished his own father could have been. And I loved him as the boy I’d known all my life, the one who blushed when his voice began to crack but who never wore a shirt in summer.

Yet, standing there now, I think I loved uncertain, nervous Will most of all.

“Tonight’s going to be great,” I assured him. “You’ve been planning for weeks. The run sheet is scheduled down to the minute. You’ve hired more than enough help to cover the crowds at The Stop so you can focus on Birdie’s event. And Seb is having a wonderful time at his grandma’s house.”
