“Long enough. Dragon found out and tried to kill the asshole and was put in the SHU and given another year on his sentence because I signed a non-disclosure agreement,” Richie said.

“And what happened to that CO?” Monty asked, his tone dark and dangerous.

Richie snorted. “Probably thinking he got away with it.”

“Fuck,” Monty cursed, then reached over, taking hold of his best friend and hugging him. “Had I known, I would have killed him myself.”

Richie hugged Monty. “And deny me the pleasure? Don't you dare. Besides, you’ve never killed anyone either,” he said.

Monty released him. “I'd make an exception for him. I'd do it slowly, too.”

Richie stared at him then licked his lips. “You really mean that, don’t you?”

Monty nodded. “You’re my brother, Zach. I won’t let anyone hurt you. Hell, if I could have, I would have gone to prison instead of you, or at least, with you.”

“You were smart enough not to get caught,” Richie said with a sad smile.

“Still, I want to kill that son of a bitch who raped you.”

Richie chuckled.

Monty frowned. “What's so funny?”

Richie shook his head. “Nothing. It's just... maybe you've got the perfect husband. He might be able to handle you. You're a little dark, buddy.”

“When it comes to protecting the people I love, there's nothing I won't do,” Monty said.

“Except marry someone your parents picked,” Richie joked.

Monty snorted. “No, because I didn't want to share my life with someone who wasn't suited for me. Life is too short to live in a prison, let alone one of your own making.”

Richie thought about what his friend said and nodded. “I agree. But don't worry. That asshole's days are numbered. But getting back to you. What are you going to do?”

“I'm going to see what my husband is made out of. And as for you, I want you to be careful. This triad is dangerous, Zach.”

“So are the Lords and we won't be alone. The Castiello Family has our back,” Richie said.

“They're mafia?” Monty asked, because he knew of the Castiello Family, but only on the surface. But he'd also heard the rumors.

Richie nodded. “Oh yeah, big time. That's why I asked if you needed our help.”

“I don't want to start a war. Not when I can handle it. I mean, it's not like I wasn't looking at a life of questionable morals. Our designer drug is still in the works, right?” Monty asked.

“Oh yeah, and I'm very close to perfecting the formula.”

“Good. It's surely going to make us a lot of money.”

“Well, the Lords will have their hand in it, too.”

“There will be enough to share if it does what we hope,” Monty said.

“Soon,” Richie said with a wide grin. “I'm still going to have to tell my president about this, though. But I'll let him know that you don't want anyone interfering unless it's necessary.”

“Why tell him? It's not his business.”

“Because you're my best friend. If shit kicks off between us and the Jade Dragon Triad, they may try to use you for leverage,” Richie said.

“Ahhh, I see.”
