“These biceps. And forearms. First thing I noticed about you walking into the speed dating night. And now you’re just over here flexing your muscles as if they aren’t my catnip.”

I held up a hand, and Ari’s touch retreated.

“Jet, if you don’t?—”

“I do. I have wanted this for … longer than I want to admit. Actually, no. I do want to admit. Since I watched your van drive off, I’ve missed you. I’ve wanted you. And now you suddenly drive up, and you’re back in Ballydoon, and now in my kitchen.”

“You’re worried I’ll drive off again.”

“What if I’m not enough? What if this shack, that damn stray cat, Ballydoon—what if it’s not enough for you?”

“I saw most of Australia, and the only thing I wanted to see was you again. All I know is right now, I want to be here with you. Nowhere else. No one else.”

“I’ve never wanted any other woman like I want you.”

“Then why are you holding onto the cabinetry when you could be touching me again?”

I finally let go and swept her into my arms, fusing my mouth to hers.

Mum always said that home was where Dad was, moving from place to place for work. Ari felt like home; my fingers in her hair, my lips on hers, tongue tangled with hers, our bodies tight against each other.

And that was terrifying. If she didn’t?—

Ari suddenly broke off the kiss, and I almost fell forward at the loss of her. But she threaded her fingers through mine and squeezed her hand.

I surged towards her, but she backed away, hand on my chest. “What’s wrong?” I whispered, aching at what her answer would be.

But Ari’s cheeks were pink. She sucked her lips. She looked … embarrassed? “Jet, I haven’t showered in two days.”

“I don’t care.”

Weirdly, it was true. Ari didn’t smell bad; sweat, deodorant. Just one whiff of her and it had brought back memories of our bodies wrapped around each other in her van, our skin slick withsweat, how she’d cried my name when I’d entered her the first time.

My dick twitched at the memory.

Settle, Wonder Dick. Settle.

She tugged on my hand and led me through the kitchen.

The hallway.

Towards the bedroom. Blood headed south so rapidly that I was lightheaded. My erection hadn’t diminished since she walked into the pub but now I was hard as steel and Wonder Dick was threatening to rip apart my jeans and host a reunion party with the woman who’d been the star of all my sexual fantasies for nine months.

Ari stopped at the bathroom door, and I almost ran into her. “I need to shower,” she whispered.

Right. Slow your roll, Jethro.

“I can get you a towel and?—”

She kissed me silent, and within seconds, I had her against the doorframe, legs wrapped around my waist.

A roll of my hips had her moaning.

My jeans zipper was right against the heat of her underwear.

Shit, I’d waited nine months to see her again, hold her, kiss her. And I could wait until Ari had showered and felt comfortable. “Sorry,” I groaned into her neck and then inhaled.

Don’t know what she was worried about. Seriously Ari was the best thing I’d ever smelt, tasted, licked.
