“Later.” I say, hanging up the phone still laughing at my friend.
Several minutes later, I’m standing in the shower, letting the water rain down over my body with my eyes closed when Cass’ face pops into my head.

By Friday afternoon, I’m almost ready to tie Arin up and leave her in a closet somewhere. She’s been like a mad woman all week in preparation for the huge picnic tomorrow.
Most of the business owners have said that they will definitely be attending and Arin said quite a few people from her extended family back in Montana will also be there.
I’m just finishing up logging a new appointment for a client when the bell over the door signals that someone just came in.
Looking up from my computer, I stare in shock at the woman looking back at me with the same look on her face.
“Lily?” I break the silence between us.
“I can not believe my eyes! I thought I was seeing a ghost! Austin, this is Cass, my friend I told you about. Cass, this is my husband Austin.” She introduces the man standing next to her as I come from behind the counter.
“What are you doing here?” I ask after she hugs me tightly.
“I should ask you the same question.” She laughs. “I’m part owner of the Poison Pen franchise.”
She shocks me yet again with her explanation.
“Arin told us she hired a new receptionist but I guess I never asked what your last name was. Why are you in Alaska? I thought the last thing I heard was you were down in California or something, engaged to some big producer.” Her brows draw together.
Looking around wildly at the people currently in the shop, my heart races, not wanting to explain in front of everyone.
Out of the corner of my eye I catch a glimpse of Arin standing just outside the hallway looking at us curiously.
“Lily. Austin. It’s so good to see you two!” Arin says excitedly, walking swiftly over to hug them both. “Did any of the others come with you?”
