I shattered for the millionth time since I’d been left to watch that blinking ERROR sign for hours.
My gaze focused as Flynn picked up my pencil case. The quiet in my mind flickered, waning again.
That was all I had.
He searched it, pulled out a marker and tossed it to Gareth who was above me again. I shut my eyes as I felt its cool tip upon my forehead.

Why was he doing that?
I was… different. Not just about territory, it was cruel… They were my mates. They were supposed to love me. To cherish me.
I reached up at last, trying to grab his wrist, a choked sound escaping my chest, but he laughed and Eric pinned my arm to the bed as Gareth crushed my chin, holding me still.
I tried to calm my breathing.
He hadn’t taken the card.
It’s all that mattered. My only chance at… at anything.
Then Gareth was gone, and I tried to ignore the echoes of the sharpie on my skin. The dark bond they’d threatened hadn’t been completed. I could still get away.
Every muscle in my body remained frozen in fear.
It would be over soon.
There was a thundering knock on the door, and I jumped. I lifted my head, but Flynn was pinning me to the bed in a second, hand clamped over my mouth, dark eyes holding mine in threat as Eric crossed the room.
The knock sounded again, and I heard the lock click as Eric opened it.
“Where is she?”
Roxy?
I tried to turn, eyes wide, but Flynn’s grip became painful and his dark irises glittered with threats. He lifted a finger to his lips, tongue pressed to his canine. My blood still traced his lips.
“She left. She was looking for you.” Eric replied.
“Someone said she was in here.”
Roxy was looking for me?
Finally, one tear broke free. Not for them.
I… I think she was my friend for real. I had to leave after this, and I would lose her.
Eric snorted. “Nope.”
“Let me see?—”
“Enough.”Eric’s voice was cold and edged with an alpha command. “We didn’t choose you expecting you to question us at every turn. If I say you aren’t welcome, then fuck off.”
