“They’re a wild group, aren’t they?”

“Hmm,” I grunted.

“Dani’s nice,” he mentioned, and I frowned.

“She’s mine,” I muttered and heard him chuckle.

“I think we all got that from the ring you put on her finger.” I knew he was teasing, but I couldn’t seem to shake off the irritation. I stayed quiet, and Crue took my silence as an opening to keep the conversation going.

“I will admit, I was surprised when you called and told us you were getting married. And when you showed up for the tour with her… I didn’t know you were seeing anyone. Seems like none of the guys did.” I glanced at him, and the truth slipped past my lips.

“Because we weren’t.”

“What?” His brows rose.

“It’s a business arrangement,” I confessed, but the truth tasted bitter on my tongue. A business arrangement?

“A business…” His voice drifted to nothing, and I shrugged as I looked around.

”She was my neighbor,” I shared. At the beginning, when the band first got together, Crue and I had been close. Closer than the rest. I could have sworn he was my best friend. But with time and fame, shit got between us.

“You mentioned that. Did she know about you being?—”

“Hell no.” I chuckled. “She had no idea who I was.” I ran my tongue over my teeth, and I could feel Crues gaze on me.

“She didn’t? But she’s part of that.” He pointed at the women, and I chuckled again.

The world was freaking small.

Who would have thought Dani was one of Soul Obsession’s biggest fans? I sure as hell wouldn’t have guessed.

“I kept my shit quiet in Vegas. Locked tight. I was basically hiding in plain sight.”

“I’ve heard,” he muttered. I cleared my throat.

“We got married so she could help keep the women and press off my back.”

“What’s she getting?” he asked quietly. I watched him look around, making sure no one was around us. Overhearing this kind of shit could mean a huge payoff to anyone who wanted to leak it to the press. Not to mention the writer on the tour, following us around for a story.

“I’m paying for her to set up her bakery.”

“She bakes?”

“Like a dream.” I glanced at Crue, and he smiled. Something about the way he was listening made me share a hell of a lot more than I was used to. It had been a long time since I felt comfortable around the guys, and longer around Crue. Guilt was a heavy fucker to carry around. “I’m serious. Hell, I had to add a daily workout because I eat so many of her desserts.” I smirked.

“That good, huh?”

“Yeah.”

“What about you and—“ I started to ask, but Crue shook his head.

“Let’s talk about you first, yeah? This thing with Dani. You tell anyone?”

“No, why?”

“Just wondering. Maybe we should, just to be on the safe side, ya know? We don’t want this to blow up in our faces.” I stared at him and scoffed.

“So, you only care because—” His hand covered my shoulder.
