JAX

After eatingdinner and more chocolate chip cookies for dessert, we moved into the movie room and settled in. About halfway into it, though, I couldn’t seem to stop myself from the temptation Dani Delano was.

Especially when she looked up at me with those gorgeous green eyes and I knew she was trying to resist me just as much as I was her. Our lips found one another, and before I knew it, the credits were playing in the background. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d made out during a movie, but I had a feeling with Dani in my life, anything before her would be tough to remember.

And fuck me, I didn’t mind it at all.

“Hi,” she whispered against my lips.

“Hey.” I brushed my nose against hers and swallowed. “Dani?”

“Yes, Jax?”

“How about we go to the bedroom?” I suggested carefully. We’d been sleeping together, sharing a bed for months, but tonight, tonight was different.

If she wanted it to be different.

“Why do you look like you’re thinking too hard?”

“Because I probably am.” Her fingertips brushed the side of my face and moved into my hair. My eyes shut, and I groaned at the feel of her magic touch.

“Jax?” I loved the way she said my name.

“Hmm?” I grunted as I leaned into her head rub.

“Would we go to bed?” My eyes opened, and I tried to read her.

“Bed?” I repeated.

“Yeah, bed. Would we go to bed together?”

“If you wanted to,” I promised, and my heart bloomed with hope inside my damn chest.

“I don’t know if you’ve caught on, but I want you,” she whispered against my mouth, and just like that, my body was rock solid.

Jesus, my girl was a temptress. My little minx was asking for more than sleep, and I was on the same page. I just didn’t want her to think that’s all I wanted from her.

“We don’t have to.”

“Jax.” She smiled and pulled away. “I want you.” Her confession had me close to losing my load, and she hadn’t even touched me.

Jesus Christ, Dani was ruining me. My chest heaved up and down while my head spun. She wanted me.Wanted me.

But I’d fucked up. As I tried to wrap my mind around the fact she was offering herself up on a silver platter, she misunderstood my silence for disinterest. A little of that light in her eyes dimmed.

“I want you, unless you don’t?—"

“Don’t. Even. Think. It.” I enunciated each word carefully and quickly hopped off the movie theatre seats and picked her up like I had earlier.

“Jax!” Her eyes widened while a smile graced her beautiful face. I loved the way she didn’t hesitate to touch me. Her handsheld my face, and she looked at me adoringly, “You know I can walk, right?”

“You could. But I love carrying you around.” I moved us through the house and straight toward the master bedroom.

“Who am I to take away your joy, then?” she teased. But I didn’t say another word. Not when I stole slow languid kisses on the way to our room.

Our room.I’d bought the big house as an investment and only lived in it for a couple of months, letting it sit mostly empty, renting it out here and there to make some extra cash on the side the last decade. It’d never felt like a home.

Not until I stepped over the threshold of the backyard with Dani in my arms. The thought made my head spin. I loved that idea. Of her always being with me, by my side. Building a life together. Here.
