He’s not intentionally trying to make me feel guilty, but I do nonetheless. I accidentally bump my elbow against his side as I’m trying to turn away from his gaze. “Why do you always take up so much space?” I tease.

We share a smile, and I can tell he’s thinking about last night just like I am.

“Move over! This is a king sized bed. How are you not staying on your side?”

“My side?” Declan asks. “Fuck that! We’re cuddling.”

“Excuse me?”

He shimmies his way closer to me again, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me up against him. “Why would I sleep in a woman’s bed and not cuddle? Makes no sense.”

I laugh without trying to move away from him. “What if I don’t want to?”

“Oh, please. Like you don’t want to feel all cozied up and protected. You’ll probably have the best sleep you’ve had since…”

Chris.

“I’m kicking you away the moment you start getting all hot and sweaty. Men and their dumb body heaters.”

His fingers trail along the exposed skin between my tank top and sleep shorts. I feel his smile against my ear. “You like it.”

“Just shut your mouth and hold me. Goodnight.”

I ended up telling Mack that I’d drive to Declan’s since his place was closer to everyone else. I drove Declan back this morning to get his stuff, keeping our little sleepover a secret that no one ever needs to find out about.

We head to the concession stand pretty much as soon as we enter the stadium. The line isn’t too long at the one closest to our seats. Mack smiles at me. “Have I told you how adorable you look in that jersey?”

“You have,” I giggle. “But by all means, I’m not going to stop you from saying it again.”

“This is why girlfriends aren’t allowed at the game,” Declan mumbles.

Mack stares him down with a smirk. “You told me she looked hot literally five minutes ago, jackass!”

Declan’s face is as surprised as mine. “Dude. Seriously?”

“What?” Mack shrugs. “You did.”

“That is not how that conversation went,” Declan scolds.

“How did that conversation go exactly?” I ask, jumping in.

“Exactly the way I told it,” Mack answers before Declan has a chance to. “Besides, Addy is just a friend.” He gives me a wink.

The line moved faster than I thought it was going to, and we’re already up next. Mack scans the cooler before turning to me. “What would you like to drink?”

“Uh… I guess I’ll take a Blue Moon.”

Declan lets out a startled laugh. “You don’t drink beer.”

“I’m not paying fourteen dollars for one glass of wine, so your bread juice will have to do.”

Mack gives a nervous chuckle. “You guys drink a lot at work?” he teases, giving his brother a weird look.

“Alcohol comes naturally whenever Declan is around.” I smile too sweetly at both of them before I turn and give the cashier my order.

I sip my beer while we walk down the steps to our seat. I’m hoping by the time we get down there, this weird, awkward funk we hit will have passed. This trip is supposed to be light and fun. That’s the whole point of all of this, isn’t it? As soon as there’s any drama or any feelings, I need to bail. It feels like I might be reaching a wall.

“Mom?” Mack asks the lady sitting next to Holly.
