I clear my throat extra loud. “That’s princess drunkass to you.”

“Don’t say that right now,” he clips, turning his head away.

“What?” I giggle. “Why?”

“Because. You weren’t supposed to be here right now. You weren’t supposed to be drunk in my bed. That wasn’t a part of the deal.”

His voice is so stern. The sound shoots straight between my legs. He sounds so fucking lusty.

“Do you want me to leave?” I ask innocently, pretending to get up.

His hand clamps down around my thigh. “That’s the last thing on earth that I’d want right now.”

I slide my tongue along my lower lip before biting it in between my teeth. “Why did you bring me in here? Don’t you get ready for bed?” I tease.

He rolls his eyes. “Forgive me for skipping my nightly floss. I thought you were going to crash, considering we couldn’t even get you back home.”

I shove at his chest playfully. “You’re the one who said I couldn’t take the Uber home alone!”

He laughs, standing from the bed. “I’m going to grab some water. Do you want some?”

“Yes, please. I’m guessing you don’t have any makeup wipes. How about some tissues?”

He cocks an eyebrow at me. “Sure, in the bathroom.” He nods his head toward the master bathroom attached to his room.

“What’s that look for? You didn’t think I’d take my makeup off in front of you? I don’t care what you think, mister.”

“Addison,” he says, folding his arms over his chest. “You only wear makeup to work maybe once a week, and it’s only on days when you’re going to happy hour with Tiff after work.”

My jaw drops. “Shut up!”

He squeezes his mouth shut to hide his laugh. “On a good morning, you’ll maybe put your contacts in. But if you do wear your contacts, then you’ll not have any time left for hair, so it’ll be in a messy updo.”

“I’m not a morning person, okay?” I scramble to my feet and march toward the bathroom. “Get me something to sleep in too.”

A t-shirt wacks me in the face when I walk out of the bathroom a few minutes later. “Thanks,” I say sarcastically, my voice muffled by the t-shirt hanging off my head.

I grab it off my face and plop it on the bed. I reach behind myself and pull my dress zipper down. Declan watches me from across the room. I smile at him as I let the dress fall to the floor, leaving me in my black matching bra and pantie set. He diverts his eyes away until I’ve slipped his t-shirt over my head.

He sneaks away to the bathroom while I get comfy in his bed. My eyelids are so heavy that I can’t keep my eyes open any longer. The bed sinks down when Declan slips in the other side. I automatically scooch my body closer until I’m pressed up against his front.

“Goodnight, princess,” he whispers, placing a soft kiss on the side of my head.

His words wake me back up. I turn around and face him. His eyes shine through the darkness, but I can barely make out any other features. “Thanks for today. I know I’m not always the most appreciative, but I really do mean it.”

He leans forward, placing another kiss on my forehead. “Don’t mention it.”

It’s too easy. This all with him is too easy. It’s making me feel unsteady. There needs to be chaos. There needs to be fighting. There needs to be something. He can’t keep acting all perfect when I’m over here just being a shit person. I know I deserve to wallow, but I don’t want to cause torment to anyone else.

“When I was a kid, I’d sometimes make my Barbies do bad things.”

“What?” Declan asks, letting out a startled laugh.

I squirm until I’m more comfortable. “I’d make them do naughty things.”

“Okay…?” he trails off, giving me an opportunity to explain myself.

“I had all these huge ballerina skirts, and I’d make my Barbie wear about ten different layers, and then my Ken doll would undress her. I didn’t actually know what sex was at the time, but they definitely did some naked smooching.”
