“Babe!” Declan hollers from the house. “Did you want any snacks or just a drink?”

“Gummy worms, please!” she shouts before looking back at me. “I don’t know, girl. All that testosterone floating around… Declan couldn’t even handle it. He had to take me inside and…” She stops talking abruptly.

“And what?” I ask with a half laugh, half scream, eyes bugging out of my head.

She bites her bottom lip, trying not to smile. “Let’s just say there’s a reason I’m so thirsty.”

“Addison!” I squeal.

Amanda plops down in the chair next to us. “What are you bitches going on about over here?”

“Addy driving Declan so crazy he had to take her inside for a quickie.”

She doesn’t deny it. “It was a long volleyball game. Who said anything about quick?”

“Oh, come on!” Amanda whines, snuggling up in her chair. “Meanwhile, I can’t even find a guy who knows what a clit is.”

“I was wondering what brought you over here so fast,” I say. “Did you already quiz all the hot neighbors on the female anatomy?”

She giggles, taking a sip of her drink. “Unfortunately, most of them are still in college.” She glances over her shoulder at them. “They are fun to look at though, huh?”

My eyes meet Mack’s just as he’s heading over this way, pulling his shirt down over his abs. I swallow hard to keep a straight face. It seems like he’s been avoiding me ever since our fight in the kitchen earlier, but he comes right up to us and sits in the chair next to mine.

“Hi,” I whisper.

He gives me a warm smile, letting me know everything between us is good. “Hi.”

“What about you and John?” Addy asks. “You guys get down and dirty yet?”

Of course I have to still be looking directly at Mack when she asks the question. I look away before I can see his reaction. “Hm?” I ask even though I heard her.

Amanda chimes in before I can give an answer. “No! She’s being boring and taking things slow.”

“Really?” Addy asks. “Making him work for it. I like it.”

“Oh my gosh, did you hear where she took him for their second date?” Amanda practically shouts.

“Don’t be a hater,” I say, already defending myself as I laugh.

“Now I’m curious,” Mack says even though I’d rather he be as far away from this conversation as possible.

“It wasn’t that big of a deal,” I say, trying to shrug it off.

Amanda doesn’t let me get away with it. “She took him to a serial killer’s old house!”

“Wait, what?” Addison asks with a laugh. “And you twodidn’tfuck afterwards?”

I can feel Mack’s eyes on me like he’s staring. I’m too nervous to look his way. I try to laugh it off. “Sorry guys, my crazy date planning abilities didn’t bring about wild passionate murder sex,” I say, rolling my eyes.

“Which serial killer’s house did you go see?” Addy asks with a laugh as Declan hands her gummy worms and a drink.

“The riverbank killer. They do house tours. It’s only fortyish minutes from here if you want to take Declan.”

Declan has no clue what we’re talking about as he sits down. “I’m sorry, take me where?” he asks with concern, which is fully justified if the excited look on Addy’s face says anything.

I finally gather enough courage to look to my side, but I regret it instantly. Mack is looking at me almost horrified like, but I’m not really sure why. I give him a questioning look, and after staring back at me for a few seconds, he finally speaks.

“Molly?”
