“He was cool about it. He just wanted to know more. I was paying close attention to his reactions, ’cause you know if you tell a man you’re into kinky shit, then he’s sending you his PornHub all-time favorites and ghosting you after trying one out.”

“That has never happened to me, considering I’ve also only kissed two men in my whole life, but go on.”

“You adorable baby. No, he took it well. And then I told him that if he was serious, The Club and all related kinky shit wasn’t going to stop, even if I have pulled back from The Club a little.”

“And he said?” Xeni asked.

“He was cool with it! And then I asked him to stay over. Oh Sloan, he got me a room at the Ritz downtown for the night.”

“And you’re still thinking about the whole boyfriend thing? He sounds like a keeper,” Sloan teased.

“I need you to get to the sex part because, while I am married, I’ve been curious,” Xeni said.

Meegan sucked in a deep breath and realized she didn’t need to exaggerate or downplay or any of those things you need to do when you don’t want to tell your friends the truth. “He’s—it was good. Like so good. He’s such a good kisser.”

“Tuh! You’re fucked,” Xeni said. Sloan nodded. Even she knew how important the kissing was.

“I am. Oh god. He just—he’s so hands on. Like, he hovered all night close to me, touching me.”

“He does have silent bodyguard energy. Every time we go somewhere he hovers like he’s ready to part the crowd for me at any moment. I mean, people run from Mason, so I’m used to it, but I did notice that.”

“Yes! He has a very protective energy about him. I like it. He’s a good cuddler, too. I just?—”

“Just trying to figure out how to sabotage it?”

Meegan tapped the tip of her nose. “He said he wants to learn more about BDSM. He’s fine with The Club, for now. He might change his mind if he actually sets foot in the place, though. He’s kind, attentive, giving. He listens. He comes on just strong enough, but knows exactly when to back off.”

“What’s holding you back?” Sloan asked.

Meegan sighed and realized she needed to be honest with her friends and, more importantly, herself. Why go to the trouble of breakfast sandwiches and peach booze from Trader Joe’s if you’re not ready to bare your soul? “I think I was too settled into that single-girl wallow. I feel like I’ve been waiting forever to find someone and, all of a sudden, it feels too soon.”

“Girl, I was so deep into the single-girl wallow that my birth mom/aunt had to terms and conditions me from beyond the grave into marrying a man I didn’t know. Trust me, I get it.” Xeni and Mason had definitely been on a journey.

“True. I guess I’m just kinda shocked and I’m still debating if I want to expose him to everything. I think he’ll be a good sport about it, but it’s different when I’m being topped by someone who already has that inside knowledge.”

“Didn’t Daniel introduce Keira to The Club?” Sloan asked.

“Dammit,” Meegan hissed. “You’re right.” Keira and Daniel were officially a couple before he even brought her around and the maybe, kinda tantrum that Meegan threw about it at the time still hadn’t been enough to keep Keira away. And now, Keira ran The Club with Daniel. Her friendly demeanor was part of the reason why they gained and kept so many new members. Meegan couldn’t imagine how different all of their lives would be without Keira in it.

“Look. Be nervous, be worried,” Xeni said. “Don’t fight those feelings, because it’s useless. You’re gonna feel them. But while you’re doing all that feeling, why not give him a chance? You ain’t got shit else to do.”

“Shut up,” Meegan laughed. Xeni was right, though. She liked being around Olin and it was silly to cut him off from serious consideration just because he’d caught her off guard and didn’t come in some kind of perfectly timed sexpert package.

“He told you about Pam?”

Meegan melted. “Yes. I need to meet Pam.”

“What’s a Pam?” Sloan asked.

“Olin’s dog. She’s very cute.” Meegan smiled at the idea of his Batman obsession leading to the equally adorable name.

“Oh, speaking of dogs! Not to interrupt the boy chat,” Sloan started.

“No, please interrupt.”

Sloan grabbed her phone off the counter and showed them a picture of a spotted Great Dane puppy. “She’ll be delivered two days before Christmas. Monica and Joe are gonna hide her until Christmas morning.”

“The kids are gonna freak,” Meegan said.
