“And I’ll lend him to Rafe as soon as I get my fill,” she laughed. “Now, tell us your boy drama. Sloan’s out of the loop.”

“Right. On the last episode of Meegan...” She had to fill Sloan in on everything up to that point. Sloan hadn’t been to their TV night in ages and they’d all been so busy, their INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISTS OF BENETTON group chat had been relatively quiet. Just regular check-ins with their pregnant Shae to see how she was feeling and if she needed anything. Sloan only knew Olin existed thanks to the one mention of him in their group chat, so they had a lot of ground to cover, creatively of course. Meegan couldn’t tell her about the deal.

“So last night, or yesterday, was technically date number two,” Meegan said.

“He really doesn’t do it simple huh? Closes down a Yogurt Mart and then takes you to a gala?” Sloan said with an impressed smile on her face.

“Yeah, I was expecting, like, mid-range gala prep assistance yesterday, but between him and his assistant, they really got me to Oscar-level hot.”

“Please tell me you took pictures.”

“Oh, there are pictures.” Meegan opened her phone and showed Sloan and Xeni the pictures Brianna had sent her. She’d glanced at them quickly the night before. Now she was struck by how beautiful she looked and how great they looked together. Olin was so handsome in his suit.

“Wow,” Sloan gasped. “Very glamorous. Your hair looks amazing.”

“He cleans up nice,” Xeni added, her mouth turned down, impressed. “You look good, too.”

“Thanks,” Meegan chuckled.

“So, what’s the drama?” Sloan asked.

“This part is going to get very X-rated. Is that okay?” Xeni was used to Meegan’s potty mouth, but Sloan had slightly more delicate sensibilities. It was something they loved about her, their sweet, innocent doctor friend. Meegan didn’t want to overwhelm her with too many nasty details.

“It’s more than okay. Out with it.”

“We had SO much sex last night.”

“I fucking knew it!” Xeni shouted. She slapped the countertop and stood back from the island like she was about to give a testimony in front of the whole church. Meegan and Sloan burst out laughing. “I knew it.”

“How did you know?” Sloan asked, still laughing.

“They both texted me at, like, eight am with updates. I hadn’t even taken my bonnet off and I’m getting check-ins. It was giving ‘can’t get you off my mind, but I just left you, so let me tell someone else’ type shit.”

“Excuse me. I definitely texted you at nine forty-five.”

“Whatever.”

“Will you please tell me what he told you?” Meegan whined.

“I mean, I think you know! He told you, too.”

Meegan thought about everything she and Olin had spoken about and what she thought Olin would feel comfortable sharing with Xeni. “He told you that he wanted us to go steady?”

Xeni tapped the tip of her nose.

“What?” It was Sloan’s turn for an outburst.

“He said he wanted toget to know me better and maybe be my boyfriend,” Meegan admitted. Okay, so she’d been caught off guard in the moment, but thinking about it now, she couldn’t help stop herself from blushing.

“Meegan,” Sloan said. Her friends knew this was no little thing. Hell, the first time Meegan had come over to Sloan’s house, she’d spent half their group hang crying about Shep by Sloan’s pool. They knew her single lady status was not something she wanted to make a forever thing. “What did you say?”

“I was trying to be mature about it. An adult, if you will,” she said, nodding in Xeni’s direction.

“Atta girl,” Xeni nodded.

“I told him—well, first I told him about The Club.”

“Oh, what did he say about that?” Sloan asked.
