“Wow.”

He gave her side a little squeeze. “I’m not soft or shy. I haven’t killed anyone, either. I just wanted to know you.”

Meegan didn’t respond because she didn’t know what to say to that. They were quiet for a time. Sleep was trying hard to get at her, but she couldn’t give in until she said the thing that was hanging on the tip of her tongue

“I’m gonna marry you,” she told him.

“Not if I marry you first.”

The next morning, Meegan was up with her alarm. Well, she was awake, at least. She snuggled closer to Olin for a few more minutes, until he lightly slapped her ass and told her to get ready for work. She went through her normal routine, showering, making herself some oatmeal, but this time Olin was there, dressed at the foot of her bed, pretending to do something on his phone while he was watching her get ready.

She slipped on her most comfortable, easy to squat down to a toddler’s level jeans and a loose green t-shirt. She grabbed a white cardigan with green hearts on it and her white sneakers that were covered with paint stains. With her hair swooped up in a ponytail, she was almost ready.

“Hey. Commissioner.”

Olin looked up from his phone and Meegan realized he was actually answering an email. Her mysterious, tall as fuck businessman. “Yes, my Kitten.”

“Oh, I like that. Can you help me with this?” She held out the smaller of the Tiffany boxes. She could manage the clasp herself, but what was the point of having a Dom/boyfriend who spends the night if they didn’t assist with miscellaneous tasks? Olin stood and looped the simple heart key around her neck. It was cute and understated, a perfect momento. She really liked belonging to Olin.

“What are we teaching the youth of America today?” he asked as he stepped in front of her.

“It’s a watercolors and crayons kind of day. And, one of my kids has a birthday, so we’ll hype her up a bit and she’ll go on about her favorite stuffed animal and the iguana her dad is raising like a dog. I’m looking forward to it.”

“That does sound like a good day. I have two meetings and then I have to go get Pam. I’ll probably have dinner with my dad to avoid sitting in traffic.”

“Makes sense,” Meegan said. She started doing the mental math. Would she be able to see him before their scheduled outing on Saturday?

“I can’t drop Pam off every time I want to touch you?—”

“Oh, babe. I wouldn’t want you to. I love Pam.”

“Glad to hear it. What I meant to say was, I need to be a responsible dog father, but that doesn’t mean you can’t come over to my place after work whenever you want.”

“I do like an open invitation. Thank you. And, I just want to say.” She stepped into Olin’s personal space and wrapped her arms around him. “I’m not sure if this is the kind of feedback you want to hear directly from me, but you did a great job last night.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah. Like, real good. Cindy Dawes better back the fuck off. You’re mine.”

Meegan leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. Olin turned his head just a bit and turned it into a real kiss. A perfect way to send her off.

After she finally pulled into the Whippoorwill parking lot, she pulled up the INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISTS OF BENETTON group chat. She finally felt like she had something to say.

Guess who has a new boyfriend.

We decided to make it official and then he took me on a slow guided tour through Pound Town.

She messaged Keira separately, knowing she’d been up since before dawn, teaching an early morning kickboxing class. She took a picture of her necklace and sent it over.

A boyfriend and then some.

A fresh new collar for yours truly.

As soon as Meegan hit send, she thought about texting Marcos.Something she couldn’t pinpoint stopped her though. She saw that he was back from Mykonos on his Instagram. He’d been so kind, giving her the green light to share their clips with Olin. Maybe she just wanted to share this news with the girls. Maybe she knew if she texted him she’d have to finally lock down a time for them to reconnect. She wanted to see him, but there was a fifty ton conversation waiting between them and she wasn’t ready for it yet.

She was in such a happy place with Olin. The second she saw Marcos in person or even if she called him, she knew exactly what he’d say, the questions he would ask about how MIA she’d been. If she was being honest she wanted to ignore all those feelings for as long as she could. Describing her relationships in and around The Club to Olin was different than talking to Marcos who had been there, for every moment. Marcos deserved answers to things she hadn’t even confronted on her own. She had to text him soon though, she scolded herself. She would.
