“I was hoping my cookies wouldn’t be the only thing covered in frosting,” Meegan said with a saucy smile.

“I should spank you just for that terrible joke.”

Her laugh melted into a whimper as he gave her one good smack on her ass. “Yes, come inside me, babe. Please.”

Olin reached down between them and aligned the tip of his cock with her soft, wet entrance. Meegan wasted no time sinking all the way home.

Meegan felt better after she and Olin had a chance to talk. And fuck. Breakfast and some fresh air helped too, and so did fucking again, but this really shitty feeling had settled in her stomach some time in the night as she watched Olin sleep and she had no idea what do to about it. She’d ignored some of the texts that flooded after their quick exit, only responding to Keira and Marcos. Keira was worried about Olin and Marcos was worried about her. She’d see Keira at the cookie party and Marcos… she didn’t know. Her time was up there. She had to talk to him for real and she would. Soon.

They swung by her house and picked up the red velvet cake cookies she’d made, then headed to Rafe and Sloan’s house. It was a perfect LA afternoon. The sun was out, with a nice breeze. She introduced Olin around. He apologized to Daniel and Keira again, who assured him that he did not, in fact, ruintheirnight. They were just happy that he was feeling better. After they talked for a bit, he headed outside to the backyard and fell into an easy conversation with Rafe and his dad, Joe. Just some east coast boys enjoying a beer.

Meegan was having fun catching up with her girls and Sloan’s family. She had a hilarious conversation with little Rowan, who was anxious to tell her about his favorite show,Bluey,or as he called it “Bwuey”. She checked in with Addison and Avery. Fourth grade was going well, but there was a boy in their class who was giving them hell for being identical twins. Meegan wanted to help them hatch a plan for revenge, but she decided to do the responsible thing and tell them to keep their teacher and their parents posted if he kept bugging them.

She sampled Shae’s cranberry sugar cookies and wondered why any of them bothered when there was a literal baker in attendance.

The afternoon was going well, until Meegan excused herself to the bathroom. She stepped up to the sink and made the huge mistake of looking in the mirror. She looked so cute with a red bow in her hair and a long sleeve t-shirt that said “Merry & Bright”. She had on the “everyday” necklace that Olin had given her, the one with slightly fewer diamonds. She looked at the necklace and the sadness etched on her face, and everything that had happened the night before came crashing back. Olin was okay, which was the most important thing, but she felt awful for what happened. He would have never been in that situation if it wasn’t for her. She also felt strange about the warm, but obvious reception she’d received from everyone. She felt awful about how things had gone down with Marcos, who she still hadn’t spoken to in any real way.

Meegan felt like a screw up and a coward, and she wasn’t sure how to deal with either of those things. She swallowed and one fat tear ran down her face. She could not cry here. Not in Sloan’s house, with Olin like fifty yards away. She bit her lip hard and then tilted her head back to hold the tears in. A few more escaped anyway. She grabbed a tissue and dabbed the corners of her eyes to keep from ruining her makeup. Later, she would cry her eyes out when she was alone. She huffed out a few breaths and reminded herself that she was at a freaking party. There were cookies, her friends loved her and Olin was there.

She stepped back out in the hall and ran right into Xeni.

“Whoa, hey. Use your blinker next time,” Xeni joked. Meegan tried to laugh, but it didn’t come out right. Xeni definitely noticed.

“Hey, are you okay?”

“That obvious?” The tears sprang back to the surface.

“What’s going on? Do I have to yell at him? He’s my friend, but I’ll fight him.”

“No,” Meegan laughed.

“Come on,” Xeni grabbed her arm, pulled her to the guest room and closed the door behind them. She pointed to the bed. “Tell me what’s wrong.”

Meegan flopped onto the queen sized bed and gave up a pathetic sniffle. She gave Xeni the PG version of what had happened with Olin at The Club. “I feel like such an asshole. We went out to dinner and just talked about the lifestyle, and he needed the car ride home to get his bearings again. Why would I think he’d be ready for The Club so soon? I really care about him and feel like I’m forcing him to make this relationship all about me.”

“I mean, is that really that bad?” Xeni mumbled under her breath. “I’m kidding. What did he say? Have you guys had any kind of debrief today?”

“Yeah, he feels terrible. He kept apologizing for ruining my night, but it was absolutely my fault. Did I give him an ultimatum?”

“I don’t think so,” Xeni replied, leaning against the dresser. “It sounds like you told him what you wanted and what you like, and he made a choice to participate. It simply didn’t go as planned. I could have gone on tour with the boys, but I didn’t want to be away from my life for that long. Look at me now. Weeping every other day and writing ‘come back to me’ letters. It’s pathetic, but it was my choice.”

“I guess. You’re right. He is very clear about what he wants. I still feel guilty, though. He had a full on panic attack because of where I brought him.”

“Please don’t beat yourself up. It sounds like you two are okay and like the relationship is very strong. He feels bad and it doesn’t sound like he’s blaming you. You feel bad and it doesn’t sound like you think less of him. You’re both smitten with each other. This isn’t even a fight! I thought you two were fighting.”

“I know,” Meegan sniffle-laughed. “I think I just feel like I threw down a gauntlet and he rose to the occasion, but I should have been more careful.”

“It sounds like you really care about him. He clearly cares about you. Look at that fucking necklace!”

Meegan chuckled as she looked at the diamonds resting on her chest. She almost told Xeni the truth about how much she loved him, but she needed to say those words to Olin first. She needed to figure out exactly where she stood before they moved forward.

“I do. I just, I still feel bad.”

“Well, feel bad while you drink wine and eat cookies,” Xeni said.

“Okay, then,” Meegan laughed. Her friend did have a point. Who was being the party pooper now? “I also saw Marcos for the first time in five hundred years and we left before I could catch up with him.”
