Harry sat at the top of the table, Garrick at the opposite end, nearest where she stood. There were four chairs at either side of the long, narrow table. The five men dubbed Harry’s soldiers were seated, three on one side, two on the other. Daire walked the length of the table to stand behind Harry, his hands linked at his back.

There was space on both sides of the table, but Daire didn’t choose to sit. It could be a strategic decision. On his feet, he could move faster and see more. There was a lot of glass too. He probably wanted to guard his leader’s back. They still didn’t know what they’d walked into. She didn’t know either.

“Tess, honey, you don’t have to listen to this,” Harry said.

From the expressions around the table, she’d guess the guys weren’t used to Harry being anything other than his blunt, decisive self, giving orders.

“I have nothing better to do,” she said, deliberately not taking his hint.

“I don’t know whether to be reassured or scared that she has Ares’ gun,” Albany said on a snicker.

“Your brains would be decorating the floor if she hadn’t saved your ass,” Daire said.

The smiles dropped from the faces of all the men.

Albany laid his hands on the table. “Guess someone lost his sense of humor in the last year.”

Daire took one step.

Without even looking, Harry knew it and raised a hand to stop him. “Stop dicking around, all of you. Ares, you remember the Zone Project? The synthetic isotope?”

“Yeah,” Daire said, still glaring at Albany.

“That’s how Garrick got these guys together.”

“It was only a prototype.”

“Yeah,” Harry said. “So it’s not far-reaching or exact, but it’s something.”

“Where’s the Trident?” Daire asked, switching his focus to Garrick.

“Z has it.”

Harry rose a couple of inches from his seat. “Are you insane? What the fuck did you—”

“It was that or my life,” Garrick said. “He came back to Olympus for more than his Bolt.”

Biting her lip, Tess wanted to ask what they were talking about. Except Harry didn’t like her to ask questions. Doing it in front of his men wouldn’t improve his openness. It turned out that there was no need to ask. Someone knew that she wanted the answer without her even opening her mouth.

“The three keys capable of reviving Minotaur,” Daire said, surprising more than just her. “The Bolt, the Trident, and the Scepter.”

“Zeus has the Bolt and the Trident.”

“Took waking Minotaur off the table,” Lowe said. “Until we got Hades back.”

Harry shook his head. “I don’t have it.”

“Don’t tell me—”

“Not Zeus, no. I figured there was a chance of things falling apart when Zulu was first discussed… I stashed it.”

“Where?”

“That doesn’t matter,” Harry said. “We animate Minotaur and Z will be on the first plane.” He tipped his head up to address Daire. “He’s in Europe.”

“I can’t track him exactly,” Garrick said. “But when he passes through a checkpoint, I get a hit.”

“Good,” Daire said. “I’ll be on the first flight.”
