Boze threw up his arms. “Now we’re talking!” He leaned toward Harry. “Send us to him.”

“No,” Harry said. “I haven’t seen any of you in action for a year. All of you are out of shape.” Again, his chin rose Daire’s way. “All of you.”

“Alright, old man, I hear you,” Daire muttered.

“We get these guys in shape,” Garrick said. “I’ll keep running Zone, hope others stumble into our radius.”

“Won’t pick up Styx,” Daire said on an exhale.

“Think he’s still alive?” Lowe asked.

“Yes,” Daire said, one side of his mouth curling though his resolute attention remained unwavering. “He hasn’t killed me yet.”

“You and Styx weren’t in Zone.”

“We’re not guinea pigs,” Daire said.

“No one ordered you to do it,” Albany said, implying that he and the others hadn’t had a choice.

“Three is in Panama,” Harry said. “What do you have on One and Four?”

“Six is who we want to trace,” Boze said.

Harry opened his hand on the table. “No one is touching Six.”

“We can’t trust him,” Boze said. “Doesn’t mean we can’t kill him.”

“One’s gone dark. No surprise there. He has the deepest connections,” Garrick said. “We’re monitoring Four.”

“Awaiting orders,” Lowe said.

All expectation turned to Harry. With the sun sinking low in the sky and the lights from the distant Strip glittering, she couldn’t imagine they would take action that night.

“Orders are to get in shape,” Harry said. “Everyone eat. Sleep. You’re on Omega regimen.”

A groan went around the table, though Garrick laughed. “You were all so desperate to have your Stratego back. This is what you get.”

Harry left the table first. The others followed as they were given orders. “Lowe in the kitchen. Boze, I want a full inventory of hardware. Zip supply list. What do we need? What do we have?”

Garrick stood up. “It’s good to have you here, Harry.”

One man nodded at the other, then Garrick disappeared past the fireplace.

“Milo, Albany, you two go back to the hotel, bring our things here.”

No one hesitated to do what they were told. After receiving orders, everyone disappeared until only she, Harry, and Daire remained. Harry pushed in his chair and turned, probably intending to talk to Daire.

Tess stepped forward. “What about the Beast?”

Harry looked at Daire. “I can send Boze for it.”

“I’ll do it,” Daire said. “Tomorrow.”

With a nod, Harry accepted that. Daire got more input than the others, which, for some reason, made her proud.

“I want a full lay of the land,” Harry said, his volume low. “I want you to know every corner of this place. Every exit, every cover position. Everything. Inside and out.”

“Sir,” Daire said.
