“I won’t, same goes for you Jeremy,” I warn to the man I went to college with, who helped me get my business up and running with a major investment. “Don’t hurt my best assistant that I’ve ever had and the sister of my woman.”

“Daniela is mine to worry about first and foremost, which also includes ensuring that her sister is also safe. Luckily for you, I know you, which is the only reason I’m going to say thank you for looking after my girl the last four years—even if was simply in a professional way,” Jeremy replies, his tone telling me he doesn’t want to like anyone else’s concern over Dani, which relieves the hell out of me. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have something extra sweet I’m about to enjoy for Valentine’s Day. Good luck taming Gabi’s mouth.”

“Oh, I have no intention of taming it, enjoying the spice that comes out of it—hell yes. I’ll see you next week Dani. I have a meeting I need to get back to and some plans to make for this afternoon.”

“Thank you, Oliver,” Dani says, before the call ends.

With a few clicks on my computer, I finish my plotting. I quickly shoot a text to the doorman of my building, to take the delivery I just paid out the ass to get delivered by one today up to my condo for me. It’s not much. Definitely not what I’dbe spending on my girl if I’d found her before today, but there wasn’t much available at last minute on Valentine’s Day.

I slip over to Dani’s desk, borrowing one of the rings she leaves in the drawer to wear for meetings—another way I knew it wasn’t actually Dani after seeing her derision towards Prescott. I was curious about it the first time time I saw her wearing it. It was the only time she ever threw me before today. She walked in here wearing what looked like a wedding band, completely confusing me, when I knew she wasn’t dating anyone.

She mentioned that one of the men we were sitting down with had asked her out after our last meeting, and she’d just figured it’d be a tiny hinderance if they saw it. I didn’t argue it then, and I sure as hell aren’t about to now, when it’ll be coming in handy for the errand I intend to run at lunch, before I steal my woman from the café and take her home with me to make her mine.

We resume the meeting, and I keep track of Prescott’s movements when we wrap for the day, agreeing to send over the proposal with the changes for them to review, and arrange another meeting. That one won’t have Gabi sitting next to me at—hopefully Jeremy won’t steal Dani from me that quickly and I can get this deal behind me. The sooner it’s done, the sooner I can fire Prescott’s ass. It’s the only termination I don’t intend to include in the deal, intended to do once it was signed, simply for the way he kept speaking to me about Dani. Hell, he’ll be lucky I just fire him. If Jeremy knew the filth that came out of his mouth towards Dani, he’d be dead and buried, never heard from again.

I wait for the room to clear beyond Gabi and I, then give her a smile, telling her, “I have an errand to run, but I’ll be back by one-fifteen for us to get those changes made, Dani.”

“Sure, no problem,” Gabi states, her smile tight, and it takes everything inside me to not reach out and touch her right now.If I do that, I won’t be able to stop, and this is not the place to claim her as mine for the first time.

That has me moving out the door, then over to the jeweler, giving Vincent a nod seeing the tray he pulls out for me. I asked him to get every ring he has that had a ruby as the main stone together for me to see. The last few hours, all I’ve wanted was to have Gabi’s red lips wrapped around my cock, and I want her ring to be a reminder of them every day of our life together. I may not use it today, but it’ll soon be on her finger, showing the world she’s mine.

There’s one that draws my focus instantly. It’s not because of it’s size, as a couple are larger than it, but the rest of the ring is just like Gabriela, sleekly shaped, grabs your attention, but isn’t overdone. It’s an emerald cut, with a single halo of diamonds, and it’s perfect for my woman—and luckily in the right size, as long as my woman is identical in ring size to Dani.

I have its box tucked away in my pocket as I move into the café where Gabi is supposed to meet Dani to switch back. I fight back a growl when I see the men eying her, and slip over quickly, not about to let any of them join her. Her little gasp when her head lifts, the widening of her gorgeous brown eyes, as she spots me, makes me smile.

“I was going to grab something to eat before giving you a call,” I state, enjoying the soft tension that arises inside her. She deserves to be a bit uncomfortable after spending the morning pretending to be someone else.

“Is everything okay?” she asks, fiddling with her phone, and I wonder if she’s texting Dani. It’s almost twelve forty-five by now, and it’s entirely unlike Dani to be late—something her sister knows well since she grumbles about Gabi’s tardiness.

“I had a meeting pop up unexpectedly and need you at it. Have you ordered or eaten already?” I add as she gives the door a glance.

“Um, not yet. I took a little walk before I came in here,” Gabi tells me, and I only half believe that. True, Dani likes to take walks around the area for lunch, I don’t think Gabi does. She likely hurried straight here, hoping to find Dani and switch back, so she likely wouldn’t have ordered yet.

“We should have time for something a bit nicer then,” I tell her with a whisper, smiling as I take her hand, pulling her up from her seat. I breathe a bit easier once she’s settled into my car, ignoring her question of if I really need her.

If she only knew how much I needed her, she’d be running away as fast as those heels of her could take her.

I pull into the garage for my building, fighting back a smile. If I hadn’t already known it was Gabi with me and not Dani, I certainly would now. There’s no way that Dani wouldn’t be asking questions seeing where we are, when I mentioned a meeting or getting something nicer to eat. Gabi might be thinking this is just another office complex and wherever we’re grabbing food is nearby, but Dani would know we were at my place. We’ve stopped by once or twice for me to grab clothes if a last-minute trip popped up.

It definitely works to my advantage though because Gabi doesn’t begin to protest when I guide her into the elevator. A smile hits when she breathes in deep when the doors open to reveal my place, and I move her off the elevator quickly, hitting the lock button on it, seeing the items I ordered already on the table ahead of us.

“Mr. Wilmont…” Gabi begins, her voice breathy and I smile, pulling her towards the table, where the food is laid out with a little box of chocolates, a balloon and teddy bear, with a half-dozen roses wrapped in red cellophane.

“I’ve told you how many times it’s Oliver when we’re alone?” I tease when she turns my way, her eyes wide with shock and if I’m right, a bit of hurt as well.

“Mr. Wilmont…” she starts again, and I pull her up against me, enjoying the quick breath she sucks in, as my arm wraps around her waist, holding her to me.

“It’s Oliver, beautiful. I’ve waited long enough to make you mine, so the last thing I want to hear from your lips is my father’s name,” I add, lowering my mouth towards hers.

“I need to use the bathroom,” Gabi says, pulling back from me quickly and I chuckle as she gives my chest a little push.

“You know where it is,” I offer, letting her go, watching her slip down the hallway and pass it up before she realizes it. Her cheeks are red when she turns back my way to slip into it, and I wait, with arms crossed over my chest for her to come out and admit the truth to me. It might be a bit underhanded, but I think she’s earned a bit of discomfort considering my pants have been uncomfortable all morning long because of her.

Chapter 3

Gabriela

Holy shit, I can’t believe what’s happening right now. I swear, I’m going to kill my sister. It’s bad enough she didn’t tell me she and Oliver have something going on, but to not show up at the café, not text me she was running late—that’s not like her at all.
