When I open the door back to my room my eyes harden.
“Get out.”
Ax just laughs at me.
“Not a chance. You aren’t getting back in bed. Here,” he says, tossing clothes at me.
Shorts and a sports bra. I raise an eyebrow.
“No, thanks.”
“It’s not optional. Put it on.”
I stand there with my feet glued to the floor and ignore the clothing as I drop it to the ground. He stands slowly, bending to pick it up, and leans so close his nose almost touches mine.
“Do you need me to dress you, princess?” He whispers.
I rip the clothes from his hands and return to the bathroom. I pull the clothing on and swing the door back open. “Happy? Now, go.”
“You aren’t that dense. They are workout clothes. Let’s go.”
“I’m not in the mood.”
“I don’t give a fuck, Katie,” he snaps. “Move it.”
He leads me to the gym that is vacant and points to a bench off to the side. I sit down, crossing my arms and refusing to look at him. I just want to go hide back under my blankets.
“Let me see your hands,” he says, kneeling in front of me.
“Why?” I snap.
“You are so damn difficult. I’m taping them so you don’t hurt yourself. And then you are learning to throw a punch. You have slapping down pretty well but it doesn’t do much to a person twice your size.”
“Are you trying to get smacked again?” I hiss.
“I’d like to see you try,” he smirks.
I give him my hands, giving up, and he sighs. He wraps my hands before handing me boxing gloves and leading me towards the punching bag.
“Go ahead,” he says nodding.
I half heartedly hit the bag and he laughs.
“All that anger and that’s all you got?”
“Can you be the target instead,” I spit.
He picks up two pads that cover his hands. “Go on then. Hit me. Right here.”
I eye him as he holds up the pad in his hand towards me. I hesitate before hitting it. He just smirks. “Come on, princess. You can do better than that.”
I tell him to shut up as I punch again.
And again.
And again.
“Don’t stop now, you’ve barely started,” he taunts me.
