“You want me to trust you to leave, you have to trust me enough to give me an honest answer.”

I glare at him. “So, help me God, if you ask about what that stupid bitch said about doctors—”

“I’m not.”

I glare at him but he just stands there with his face unreadable. God, he’s infuriating.

“Where were you the last four years?”

My stomach sinks. “I’m holding on to my sanity by the skin of my teeth, trying to get through two more years so I can get the hell away from this town. I can’t tell you that without pissing off my dad and making these next two years insufferable.”

He looks at me curiously and I catch the other two guys step closer to eavesdrop.

“And if I don’t tell him that I know?”

“Bullshit,” I laugh. “I’m not putting the next two years of my life in your hands.”

“Fine. I’ll just be sure he doesn’t know I found out from you.”

“How else would you find out?” I ask him suspiciously.

“I have my ways,” he reiterates.

I chuckle. “So, it just kills you that you can’t figure out where I’ve been? I’m surprised your ego even fits in this house.”

Eli smirks as Asher chuckles under his breath.

“Sure. You could say that. So, we got a deal?”

“Fine,” I shrug. “A psych ward.”

I turn quickly to bound down the staircase but footsteps follow quickly behind. “Don’t be a bitch, I want an honest answer,” Ax finally growls once we reach the foyer and I watch as his hands tense at his sides as though to stop himself from grabbing me.

What do you know, he does know how to listen.

“And I gave it,” I sigh.

There’s a beat of silence until Eli runs a hand roughly down his face with a sigh. “Jesus Christ.”

“Four years?” Asher asks, shaking his head. “That’s some fucked up shit.”

“Why?” Ax asks.

“That’s two questions,” I smirk at him. “Are you gonna tell me why we’re living in your house?”

He glares at me. “No.”

“Then it looks like we’re even.”

A knock at the door brings me more relief than I thought was possible and I swing the door open, ignoring the guys. Bianca grins at me then eyes the three angry meatheads behind me curiously.

“Interrupting?” She asks.

“Not at all.”

I’m about to step through the doorway when I spot Scott off to the side. While I haven’t seen him in years, there is no mistaking that All-American boy next door smile and his floppy blonde hair. “Kitty Kat!” He says reaching to hug me.

I tense under his hug, grateful when he lets go. “Scott, damn. You look so much different from sixth grade,” I chuckle.
