“Jesus.” Ajax let out a long sigh. “Your friends should have left everything up to me. You shouldn’t have everyone blowing your mind wide open.”

Drake chuckled. “I can’t argue with that. My brain is so confused and conflicted right now that I think it might overload and shut down.”

“Nah, you can handle this,” Ajax said in that sexy, deep voice of his. “You took the news about shifters like a champ. You didn’t run away from me when I told you that we were mates. You just need time to absorb everything.”

Now Drake wanted more than ever to see Ajax. God, he’d just left the guy not too long ago, yet it felt like years since he’d seen him.

Drake stood up and started pacing back and forth. “I know, but it’s just so much to take in all at once. I never thought any of this existed, and now I’m learning that it’s been there all along.”

“I know, baby,” Ajax said soothingly. “But I’m here for you, every step of the way. We’ll figure it all out together. And if you need me to come over, just say the word.”

Drake hesitated. “Could you come over?”

“Of course, I’m on my way,” Ajax said without hesitation.

Drake’s heart skipped a beat or three. “What about the café?”

“I own the place, darling,” Ajax replied. “Closing a few hours early won’t hurt. Give me your address.”

Drake gave it to him and then ended the call. He walked inside the house, feeling nervous and excited all at once. Ajax had said he would come over, and Drake couldn’t wait to see him again. He went into the living room and sank into the sofa, waiting for Ajax’s arrival.

It didn’t take long for Ajax to arrive, and when he did, Drake practically ran to the door to let him in. Ajax looked as gorgeous as ever, with his dark gray eyes and blondish-brown hair that appeared windswept.

And why did he have on a different shirt? Had he gotten something on it from work? Whatever the reason, the black tee hugged his body so perfectly that Drake was jealous of the material. It was able to do what Drake wanted desperately to do.

To Drake’s shock, Ajax pulled him into his arms and kissed him so thoroughly that Drake feared he wouldn’t have any oxygen left in his lungs. It was their first mutual kiss, and holy fuck! Ajax was a master at it. His lips were soft, his breath was warm and tasted sweet, and the scratch of the guy’s facial hair made Drake shiver.

He’d wear Ajax’s whisker burns proudly.

Their first kiss on the patio, which wasn’t really a kiss, had been their lips brushing. This was a full-on lip lock, tongues included.

Brody walked into the room and groaned. “I really don’t want to see two guys kissing. Can’t you keep that shit to the bedroom?”

Ajax gave a low growl, glaring at Brody as they broke apart. Drake was barely able to think since Ajax had practically sucked his lungs right out of him.

“Let’s go outside,” Drake suggested. Once again Brody had no idea who he was messing with, and Drake was getting mighty tired of saving his cousin’s ass.

Ajax’s grip on Drake tightened, possessiveness evident in his body language. “We don’t need to go outside. Brody needs to learn some respect.”

Drake glanced between them, biting his lip as his brows shot up.

“Who are these clowns you keep bringing around here?” Brody asked.

Ajax’s eyes flashed. “Watch your mouth,” he snarled. “Or I’ll teach you myself.”

Christ on a cracker. Drake wished he could get a do-over from this day. “Brody, fuck off. Aren’t you supposed to be packing?”

After flipping them off, Brody walked away.

All Drake could do was shake his head. “Can we go to your place?”

There was no way Drake wanted to deal with his cousin while Ajax was there. His wolf might just eat Brody.

Ajax was glaring at the hallway Brody had just walked down. “Just give me five seconds with that punk.”

Brody was simply fabulous at making friends. If he kept it up, he’d have everyone in town ready to kick his ass.

Or bury him in that shallow grave.
