Thatwasn’t Lucia.

My eyes shot up, and I held the pen and paper to my chest as if shielding myself from the intimidating stare he shot my way. My eyes fixed on his mouth for a moment as I thought about all the creative ways he’d used it, and then they drifted down to where his hands hung loosely at his sides.

Those hands…the things he’d done with them.

I sucked in a sharp breath.

“I was just—”

“I don’t open my office to people,” he said.

Bria nodded. “I told you,” she said smugly. “Uncle Dante told me that last week when I came in here to play with my dolls.”

“I guess I should have listened,” I said, stepping away from the desk. “I’ll be down in a few minutes to color, Bria.”

She nodded, and I thanked every god that she didn’t give away that she’d been the first to catch me in here. I couldn’t let Dante know I’d come in here without his niece. “Can we color in my princess coloring book?”

I grinned down at her. “That sounds like a blast.”

I had to admit that though we’d only been around one another a handful of times, Bria quickly grew on me. It had something to do with the animated speech and the sparkling light behind her eyes. I could see a spark of brilliance there, and I hoped she got everything she deserved out of this world.

I hoped the death of her father figure didn’t affect her the way my father’s death had destroyed me.

Bria took off down the hallway, and I focused on the best ways to distract him from my presence here.

“Why were you gone this morning?” I asked.

“I’m a busy man.”

He didn’t sound necessarily angry, but he certainly seemed skeptical. I couldn’t give him the chance to ask me questions—not when it could blow my cover. I needed him to assume I’d been here with Bria, not that I’d found the office on my own.

“I was waiting for you,” I told him, stepping forward. “I fell asleep before we were done last night.”

He chuckled, a bit of skepticism falling away as he stepped toward me. “We’d already finished five times.”

I shrugged and looked at the ground, putting on an air of shyness. His finger found me beneath the chin and lifted my head. His eyes burrowed deeply into mine, and I nearly gasped at the heated look there.

I had no intention of using my body as a distraction, but the warmth that already filled my core told a different story. How could a man do this to me with a mere look?

“Is five times not enough for you, Stellina?”

I only bit my bottom lip.

“I have a few questions I need to ask you, and you seem to give in well under my particular kinds of pressure.”

My mind drifted back to what I’d told him last night, and I winced slightly. That…that could be problematic. Cameron knew everything about Valentino and me. He had worked for my stepfather for years before nearly killing me and being expelled from Valentino’s payroll. When Dante got his hands on him…

Shit, I didn’t have time to worry about that right now.

“I wasn’t aware you had more things to ask me,” I replied as he swept a hand up my shirt and around my waist. He tugged me into him harshly, and I gasped as I felt the proof of his arousal.

“Why am I just now finding out that Sienna Rossi doesn’t exist?” he asked, lowering his head to my ear and nipping it.

I did my best to look confused. “I’m right here, so I don’t think that’s possible. Are you trying to look into something in particular?”

If he dug deep enough and far enough, he’d find that Sienna Rossi had existed until she turned eight and her dad died. Then, I became Sienna Accardi. I wondered how good his tech guy had to be to find that information.

“I could make you talk,” he told me.
