During my time with the Reapers, I thought a lot about Nirvana. In hindsight, I think that’s where things changed for both of us. It’s where I proved to Gray he could trust me when I took care of him and didn’t run after he passed out. And… it’s where he gave me some of my control back when he ate me out at gunpoint.

But more importantly, it’s where he showed me his heart when he gave me back my mom’s letter.

“I’d like that,” I sigh wistfully as I open the door. “Maybe in the summer.”

Gray takes my hand and lifts it up to his lips so he can kiss it. “Definitely.”

We don’t say anything else as we make our way downstairs. I don’t know about him, but I’m already planning our next trip to Nirvana. Maybe we should make a tradition of going there for a few days leading up to the Fourth of July and then come back here to celebrate with our shared family.

“Morning.” Munroe yawns as he joins us.

“Hi Munroe,” I laugh.

“Fuck, I’m getting too old for late night shit,” he grumbles. “Especially when there’s no pussy involved.”

“Christ,” Gray says, rolling his eyes. “Didn’t you find a Cunt to fuck afterward?”

Munroe shakes his head. “No time, man. Slasher changed the guard schedule and had everyone doubling up so no one walks alone. And he wanted us to change every two hours.”

Gray nods thoughtfully.

“I’m not complaining.” Munroe is quick to add, probably misreading Gray’s silence.

“Hey,” I interject, even though I should probably stay out of it. “Want me to send one of the Cunts to your room?”

I mentally start going through the list of available girls. Fuck, Gray’s right. With the way couple fever is hitting the ranks, and the loss of Sasha, Izzy, and even the traitor Rhiannon, I do need to recruit more to keep the Kings satisfied without exhausting the Cunts.

Munroe winks at me. “That’s a nice offer, Mama. I might take you up on it later.” As we round the corner and are greeted by Stretch, Slasher, and Doug, all filing in through the backdoor, Slasher looks like he’s on the brink of exhaustion, and the other two don’t look much better.

“Any news?” Gray asks, looking between them.

“None,” Slasher says.

“We’ve talked with Tido but there’s been no local reporting of the blackout, so it’s doubtful he’ll find anything useful at the station,” Doug says.

While they catch up, I forge ahead and open the door into the main room. I immediately head toward the bar, needing to get some coffee going. But I only manage two steps before I see it.

I let out a startled scream.

Feet pound on the floor, and it only takes seconds before I’m pushed behind Gray.

“What?”

“Did you see him?”

“What’s going on?”

Question after question is fired at me, but all I can do is point at the stuffed unicorn hanging from the rafter with a rope around its neck.

“A fucking plushie got you screaming the roof down?” Doug grumbles.

“W-when… w-what…” I can barely utter a word as my eyes stay glued on the teddy.

Not seeing the immediate danger, Gray turns and faces me, bending so we’re eye-to-eye. “Talk to me, Princess,” he urges, cupping my cheek. “What scared you?”

I point at the unicorn.

“Don’t tell me our mighty Mama Z is scared of stuffed shit,” Munroe laughs good-naturedly.
