“Love you too, big bro—and thank you for always being there for me.”

“Anytime, kid. Seriously. You’re one amazing guy. Best thing Pop ever did for me. So, do me a favor—don’t kill yourself for a degree just to prove something. I need you at top performance, and I’ll be honest, you’ve been dragging ass. We make a great team, and nothing will break Elite down. Nothing, you hear me? We’re going to grow old, hopefully not fat, and rich as shit working side by side.”

“Fuck yeah, I want that.” Peace I’d only ever felt at Matteo’s feet slid through my body, and sudden longing for my man made me antsy as fuck.

My man.

“What’s that look for?”

“Huh?” I focused on Micah rather than the picture in my head of heated dark eyes and luscious lips.

“That.” Micah nodded his chin toward me. “It’s like you…holy shit.” A grin split his face. “What poor soul stole your fickle heart?”

“The Prince Charming of my childhood gay dreams,” I said on a sigh.

Micah settled in for the story, and his eyes lit the fuck up. “Who is he, and where’d you meet him?”

“Matteo D’Angelo, and the first day of classes.”

“Huh.” Micah shook his head. “I thought for sure it would be someone older who tied you down. A daddy type, not some frat kid younger than you.”

“I don’t need a daddy, thank you very fucking much. Pop hasn’t done that much of a number on me.”

Micah chuckled. “Tell me about this kid I’m assuming you’ll give up escorting for.”

“Damn right, I will. Take my popular ass off the menu for good, big bro.”

“Done. Now talk.”

“He teaches my Financial Advising class.”

One of Micah’s eyebrows popped up.

“Not a kid,” I reiterated.

“Tell me you’re being smart about this, Sean,” he stated quietly….slowly as though making sure I heard his every word.

“You know me better than that,” I muttered, squirming on my chair.

“Shit. Isn’t fraternizing with students against BC’s code of conduct?”

“Yeah, but we’re being super careful.”

“Sean.”

I gave Micah my full attention without trying to escape the sure reprimand since out of anyone, he had my best interests at heart.

“Quit before you get in trouble,” he urged, his blue eyes insistent.

“I can’t let him go, Micah. No fucking way. He’s…everything to me. That’d be like me asking you to turn your back on your wife.”

He shook his head, snickering at my adamant tone. “No—quit the nonsense of school. Drop out and protect both your asses.”

“And offer up another reason for Pop to say I told you so?” I shot out, my stubbornness holding onto that drive to prove myself to have worth. Be enough.

“Who gives a flying fuck!” Micah barked. “Haven’t you figured out yet that he’ll never be satisfied? You know after you snuck out after Thanksgiving dinner, he told me I was destined to be the next shitty father in the Fox line?”

Holy. Fucking. Shit.
