“I’m just checking on you. I missed you, Fiore mio.” He smiles.

When is he going to stop calling me that? “Stop calling me that.”

“No. Matter of fact, this is called being ungrateful. I’m personally just projecting my country’s language and you’re not accepting it. It’s really hurtful,” he jokes. I look him in the eye.

“Go to class. Unlike me, you have to graduate,” I remind him, nudging him.

He frowns. “I can fail. I’m going to take over my mom’s company anyway.”

“And what does she say about failing?”

He groans, throwing his head back. “Fine. I’m going. I’ll see you after school,” he says, walking backward. I wave to him as he disappears into the crowd. He’s really something.

After school, Lorenzo and I walk through a small field, hoping not to get caught. I have an event in an hour, so I don’t need fans hoarding me.

“I can’t believe we don’t get snow. Snow sounds cool,” he exclaims.

“You act as if you’ve never seen snow.”

“I haven’t,” he lies.

“In Italy?” I raise my eyebrow.

“That doesn’t count. It was too long ago.” He shrugs. We pass lines of trees, all very close in height. It isn’t cold, but according to Lorenzo and Ellie, I’m immune to cold, so I don’t know if I’m anyone to judge.

“So, how’s your dad?” I ask him. He doesn’t have much of a connection with his dad since his parents got divorced when he was young, but he still respects him as a father.

“He’s good. Business is also great with him. Both my parents are great business owners, if you haven’t noticed. I should be more known than you statistically,” he jokes. He isn’t wrong. I’m surprised he isn’t more well-known than me. He’s the son of two very successful people, as well as a successful person himself.

“Take it. I’ll lend you the fame,” I tell him. He laughs before wrapping his jacket tighter around him. He looks at me, close to shivering. I already know what he’s going to say.

“How are you walking without a jacket?” he asks. I’m just not cold. Since I have an event after this, I’m wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with an olive-green skirt that’s just above my knees, as well as with a long silver necklace. But, I’m not cold.

“I don’t know. I’m used to this, I guess,” I answer. He shivers slightly. “You want to go back to the car? We can get something from a drive thru and stop somewhere,” I suggest. He nods, pain in his face. The cold really does kill him. We then turn around and walk back to the car.

We stop not far from his dad’s house and sip the drinks we got on the way. Lorenzo and I switched seats at the drive thru so he could order. I didn’t want to run the risk of being recognized there.

“So, what event do you have in thirty minutes?” Lorenzo asks.

“It’s not in thirty minutes, I just have to be there by then. It’s in less than two hours. It’s kind of like a meet and greet. People bring things to me, and I sign them. But you need a ticket to be allowed in the venue,” I explain.

He leans his head on the seat. “I feel so special. I can get these for free. I should make a business out of it. I’d make a lot of money selling your autograph,” he points out. He’s not wrong,he would. I’m surprised he hasn’t done it yet. A grin grows on his face, and I know there’s an evil thought going through his head. “You know who would die for your signature. Aurora. She would do anything for it.”

“Don’t use it against her,” I warn him. He straightens in his seat, looking at me confused.

“I thought you didn’t like her.”

“Hey. Don’t twist my words. I said I’m not that happy with Elias. Aurora is innocent, I already love her. Plus, she doesn’t like Roland much, so that gives her points,” I state.

He shivers, more out of disgust than the cold. “Let’s be real, who really likes Roland?”

“A lot of people, considering he’s rich and successful.” I answer him. Many people have contracts with Roland. He’s nice when it comes to business, obviously.

“There’s a difference. Being smart and successful doesn’t make up for being a total asshole,” he says. Roland apparently hates Lorenzo, too, and says he’s a bad influence on his son. That’s what Lorenzo tells me, and I don’t think he is lying. He’s also told me that anytime he and Elias hang out, it’s almost always away from Roland’s house.

“Go say that to your father. I think he hates the fact that you despise Roland,” I remind him.

“That’s because he’s a good business acquaintance of his. He also doesn’t know what he’s done. If he did, I’m sure he’d drop him the second he found out. My dad isn’t that close to me, but he’s still a good person,” Lorenzo explains.
