“When is he leaving?” Aurora asks stubbornly, crossing her arms. The second guy closes his locker.

“Don’t worry, long enough for you to die of annoyance,” he jokes, turning around. He then freezes, confusion appearing on his face. Just as I’m sure it appears on mine when I notice who’s standing in front of me. I stare at him in disbelief, a sense of realization hitting me.You’ve got to be kidding me.

“I see you’ve found a new friend,” Aurora’s cousin tells her and it’s then that I realize who it is. Elias. Elias Miller. God, I knew he was familiar. Though, he doesn’t look much like Roland.

As soon as that thought enters my head, I also realize he knows me. Lorenzo said Elias knows who Violet Hart is.

“Yeah, to replace you and your foolishness,” Aurora criticizes. Elias can’t know I’m Lorenzo’s friend. That kind of information can expose me. And I personally don’t want to be exposed this fast.

Lorenzo stands there puzzled, still looking at me. He’s going to expose me, then Aurora and Elias will know who I am. I beg him internally not to say anything.

“Lorenzo Russo and Elias Miller,” I utter.

“That’s us!” Elias replies. Lorenzo knows it’s me. He knows how I look with brown hair. He’d know me no matter how I disguised myself. I’m just going to hope he doesn’t comment on it.

“Violet. I’m Violet,” I say. I don’t give them my last name; it’s not important anyway.

“That’s so funny. I have a best friend named Violet, too. But she’s in Portland.” Lorenzo teases, gesturing at me. I squint my eyes at him.Shut up, Lorenzo!

Elias turns to Lorenzo and says, “I forgot about that.” Great, now he remembers. God, I couldn’t have started my first day any worse.

“Anyway, Violet is my new friend and I’ll hanging out with her from now on, if she’s okay with that. So, I will be abandoning you the same way you did with me,” Aurora tells Elias as she links her arm with mine. “You are fine with it, right?” She leans closer to me and whispers.

I stop looking at Lorenzo and turn to Aurora. “Yes, of course.” I smile. I notice Elias frown and Lorenzo smile. We then turn around and start to walk away. Good, the less time I hang out with them, the less chance Elias will realize who I am.

“So, you’re Aurora Williams,” I blurt out.

“Yep. How did you know?” she asks. I don’t like this. Fate needs to take a break.

“Connections,” I say vaguely. “So, Roland’s your uncle.”

“Unfortunately. Though he doesn’t really tell anyone about us. You know, arrogant and embarrassed, apparently.” She says,

“Well, that’s something we have in common. I’m not a fan of Roland’s either,” I tell her.

“Really? How come?” she asks.Because he’s an arrogant asshole,I want to tell her, but hold back.

“Let’s just say it was a bad impression. I’m surprised he’d let Elias come to a public school, to be honest,” I say. When Lorenzo said he was going to a school with him, I expected it to be a private school. Elias is apparently very precious to Roland, and he’s supposedly a “responsible” parent.

“Elias is only here because of me. Not that I forced him, but I’m the only reason his dad lets him. He doesn’t like getting on my mom’s bad side, and Elias agreed to do extra shit for him. So, now he comes here,” she explains. Makes sense.

I smile at Aurora. But my mind is still on Elias and Lorenzo. Maybe I should change schools. No, that’s a bad idea. A very bad idea. “I should go. I didn’t really get to attend my first two classes.” I tell her, finding an excuse to slip away.

“Yes, I need to go, too. Try not getting lost.” she says, turning to go up the stairs. I take a deep breath before taking out my phone. I find Lorenzo’s number and leave him a text to meet me close to the entrance as I rush down the stairs. When I get to the entrance, Lorenzo is already there.

“Hey. Do I know you?” he says sarcastically, causing me to frown.

“You’re funny,” I mock.

“I know.” He grins, taking a few steps closer. “You have the ‘I hate life right now’ face.” He mentions. Nice observation. I do. A sigh leaves my lips. “Too much?” he asks, and I nod.

“You could’ve mentioned coming to a public school. I would’ve been more careful,” I tell him.

“Hey, what’s this got to do with me?” He backs away from me, raising his hands. I look him in the eye. “I’m not going to expose you, Vi. Plus, Elias knows you as Violet. See how useful calling you by your middle name is?” he says. I blink at him, and he chuckles in response.

“Is he really a good person?” I ask him.

“Elias, yes. Aurora, horrible. Too sarcastic if you ask me.” This guy, I swear to God. “I’m joking. They’re both great. I’m saying this even though you have nothing against Lucas. Also, you’re looking at their fathers too much. Fathers are overrated. Just look at him as Elias.” Lorenzo tells me.
