“Wh-what?”

“Finn is both a Ravager and an Outlaw, but he’s Ravager born. His true loyalty resides with Xavier, not Damien.”

That wasn’t what I was getting at, but still, that information was just as equally important to know. If Finn was really Xavier Michaelson’s nephew, then that meant…

Oh, no. Fuck!

FUCK!

Finn was Rhett, Isaac, and Phantom’s cousin.

Jace

Bang.Bang.Bang.

I rolled over in bed Tuesday morning, groaning as I forced myself to sit up, the ache in my ribs stealing my breath away.

“Jace,” an anxious voice bellowed from afar, as the intense rapping against my door started up again. “I know you’re in there! Open the damn door!”

Cursing under my already short breath, I forced myself to my feet. My leg was still fucked, and it hurt like a motherfucker putting pressure on my foot, so it took me a lot longer than I anticipated getting to the living room.

“Holy fuck, Jace,” Finn spouted, throwing his arms around me when I opened the front door. I winced and softly cursed in pain. Finn quickly released me and let himself in.

I shut the door, then turned around to find him gawking wildly at my condition. He looked a hell of a lot better than I did. Except for that gnarly scar on the side of his face from where my father shot him, yellow tints still lingered under his eyelids. As he breathed in deep, he winced and clutched his upper torso, letting me know that he too was suffering from bruised or cracked ribs.

“The fuck happened to you, man? Where have you been? Why aren’t you answering the phone?”

I scoffed and irritably shook my head at him before hobbling on one foot over to my couch, sinking down on the cushion. “I think you already know the answer to that question.”

Finn swallowed, looking worried as he eyed me over once more. “Damien did this to you?”

What didn’t he do was the real fucking question here. After Father had damn near beat me to death, interrogated me for what felt like eternity, and busted my phone, I could barely see, much less walk. I’d scarcely made it three feet away from that exam table before I collapsed. Father called me a weak, worthless piece of shit, and told me I was a disgrace to the Reyez name. He had two of our men haul me up and carry me outside to his SUV. After that, I was driven back to my apartment and was disrespectfully hurled out of the car like a piece of garbage.

Thanks to my injuries, I’d been in excruciating pain these past three days. I hadn’t left my apartment, not even my bed unless it was to eat, shit or piss.

“He interrogated me about Ginger and the girls. Samara called me in the middle of it and Father answered the phone. He… He knows I’m in love with her. He shattered my phone.”

Fear swept over Finn’s stunned face.

“Ginger’s safe. I’d rather die than sell out my family. As far as Samara goes, I admitted my feelings but denied hers. He bought it, thankfully. For a moment there, I really thought he was gonna kill me. After everything he’s put me through, part of me wishes he did. He’ll never let me see or talk to her again. I just know it.”

My heart broke thinking about it. After all this time of foolishly playing with fire, just waiting for Samara to admit her love for me, she finally does. And then, of fucking course, karma had to come back and fuck us hard in the assholes.

“Fuck Damien,” Finn growled, balling his fists hard at his sides, his eyes shifting into a lethal glare. “He’ll get everything that’s coming to him and then some. The Ravagers will make sure of it.”

I smirked at him, and not in a good way.

Yeah, I knew all about Finn and his connection to the Ravagers. He told me about it just before Prim and Sharkey started beating the fuck out of us. When Finn first joined the Outlaws, I’d just turned eighteen and he was twenty-five. He was twenty-eight now, the same age as Ginger, meaning Finn had been working undercover for well over three years now and none of us had the slightest fucking clue, not even my father.

Although the reasonwhyXavier Michaelson sent Finn under was still vague to me, Finn swore I could trust him, as well as Prim, Sharkey, and all Ravagers combined. I prayed it was true. I wasnotphysically stable enough to withstand any more vital blows to my organs.

“Has anyone else tried contacting me?”

“You mean like Samara or Phantom?” he asked.

I nodded.
