Rhett didn’t respond. He kept his eyes on the list, lost deep in thought as he continued to write.

“Rhett.”

“Huh?” He shook his head fast and his eyes darted up, meeting my gaze.

“Are you coming?”

“Uh…” He started, looking torn as he contemplated it, his attention dropping down to the pad. “Just go without me. Father wants us there ASAP, so no fucking around, Isaac. I mean it.”

I rolled my eyes and made way for the door, pretending like I didn’t hear him. I had all intentions of getting laid whether Rhett liked it or not. Enough time had passed and Samara should’ve been good and healed by now. Griffin rising from the dead was the best fucking news we’d gotten in weeks and I wanted to celebrate it in every possible way I could. Burying myself deep inside Samara’s pretty pink pussy sounded like a fine start.

My dick was painfully hard by the time I made it across campus to the girl’s dorms, and I squeezed it through my jeans when the elevators closed, biting my lip from how good it felt. She probably wouldn’t give in to me easily since I’d been denying her. It physically gutted me because I wanted nothing more than to touch her, craved to feel her warmth and her beautiful body writhing beneath mine, and to feel that intense shiver rush down my spine the instant our bodies connect. I fucking hated doing it, but I did it because she needed to heal. Today was a new day though. I knew what she liked and exactly how she liked it. Getting her to fall to her knees for me would be fast and easy.

The elevator opened and as I stepped out, my brows furrowed at the two small rows of luggage lined up outside Samara’s dorm room. The fuck was that about?

The door was cracked open. I gently stuck my head in and found Samara staring wide-eyed at Sky Parker. She was stunned, downright immobile even after Sky had spread her arms wide and come in for the hug.

Oh, shit.

She came back.

“I missed you so much,” Sky spoke softly, pulling away and clapping with an excited grin on her face. “We have so much to talk about.”

“You shouldn’t be here,” was Samara’s odd and surprisingly frosty response. “What thefuck, Sky?”

“I…” Bit by bit Sky’s smile fell, her shoulders slumping. “I was released from the hospital. My parents gave me the option to spend Thanksgiving with them or at the academy, so I chose to be here. I-I thought you’d be happy to see me.”

I cleared my throat then and stepped inside the room, earning an incredulous glare from Sky first thing. Samara stressfully sighed when I shut the door.

“Iamhappy to see you,” Samara said, temporarily pulling Sky’s attention away from me. “I'm just…surprised.”

“I can see that,” Sky thickly confirmed as her sight skated back to me, her scowl perfectly fixed. She sized me up and then scoffed like I was the most disgusting thing she’d ever laid eyes on.

“We need to talk.” I turned to Samara, opting to keep my heinous thoughts to myself for the sake of my spectacular mood. “There’s been a change of plans.”

I leaned closer to her ear and whispered two words that had her blue eyes lighting up and her plump lips parting.

“Wait, you’re leaving?” asked Sky, her lips twisting down in a deep frown. “But-but I just got here. I-I was hoping we could hang out and you know, talk.”

Samara offered her an apologetic frown of her own. “I have some business to handle, but I promise we’ll talk as soon as I’m back.”

She grabbed ahold of my arm and then pulled me toward her bedroom, leaving Sky alone with her thoughts and luggage. I shut the door behind us and wasted no time sweeping Samara up in my arms, kissing her deeply.

“Wait,” she whispered, pulling away fast. “Sky woke me up coming in, and I haven’t brushed my teeth yet.”

She scampered out the room, leaving the door open wide enough for me to witness Sky huffing and angrily grumbling to herself while she hauled her bags in two at a time. Not even a minute later Samara came back in and shut the door behind her.

“When did he wake up?”

I watched as she skittered over to her closet, pulling out some dark jeans and a long-sleeved black shirt.

“Father didn’t say. He wants us to meet at the vet clinic. And by the way, your phone is off. Rhett tried calling and it went straight to voicemail.”

“Shit,” she hissed, rushing over to her phone on the nightstand, plugging it up. “I fell asleep playing that damn Candy Crush game. It must’ve died sometime overnight.”

I approached her from behind and wrapped my arms around her waist, sitting down on the edge of her bed. A soft, intoxicating moan rushed from her mouth when I lifted her top and began peppering kisses along her waistline.

“You look like you need some help getting out of these.”
