“There’s no need for this shit,” I furiously spat, tossing the cup on the bed. “I took two tests first thing Thursday morning and they both came back positive.”

“And I believe you,” she murmured softly, something genuine flashing in her dark eyes. “I do. However, orders are orders, and we both know what’ll happen if Damien doesn’t get what he wants.”

I rolled my eyes and despite wanting to screamfuck Damienat the top of my lungs, I grabbed the wrapped cup and held it up. “Fine, I’ll do it. Take me to the bathroom.”

Lena nudged her head to the right, where I spotted a closed door across the room. “It’s right there. There are three different pregnancy tests waiting for you.”

I trekked over to the door, opening it to find the tests resting on the gorgeous, white-marbled countertop like Lena assured me. As I dropped my britches and sat down on the toilet, Lena appeared in the doorway with her gun still fixed on me. Rollingmy eyes again, I ripped open the plastic and then opened the cup, sighing as I pushed out all the urine I could into it.

“I’m sorry about Finn. I heard you two were—”

“You don’t know shit,” I snapped at her through watery slits, half tempted to throw the cup of piss at her just for saying his name. “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll shut the fuck up and not dare say his name around me again.”

Placing the almost half-filled cup on the counter, I grabbed the first test box and opened it, noticing right away that it was the same exact test I’d taken Thursday. Without breathing another word or giving her direct eye contact, I dipped the stick in the piss. After about ten seconds, I closed the cap, then carefully set the test down and moved on to the others.

I placed the last one down and wiped, then secured my pants back in place as I stood tall, smirking down at the two dark lines on the first test.

“Positive,” I said, picking it up and throwing it at Lena. I moved on to the next to see it was the same. “Positive.” I threw it at her feet then grabbed the third, scoffing at the results before I tossed it. “Positive. Are you fucking happy now?”

Lena ground her teeth as she crouched down and slid her gaze away from me long enough to closely inspect each one, nodding to herself. “Very well, then,” she said as she sprung back to her full height. “Congratulations, Ginger. I don’t have to kill you after all.”

She let out a sharp whistle that made my ears ring, and a moment later some random man dressed in a black suit appeared in the doorway.

“This is Smoke. He’s the best bodyguard I’ve ever had, and as a plus, he’s gay, so you don’t have to worry about him getting forceful or handsy with you.”

“Withme?” I asked, gaping at her like she’d sprouted fifty heads.

“Yes,” she nodded. “As of now, Smoke will take care of your every want and need. He’ll also be escorting you to any and every prenatal appointment from this point forward. It’s the weekend, so all the clinics are currently closed. First thing, Monday morning, I’ll call and set up your first appointment so we can see exactly how far along you are. That’ll help determine whether or not the baby is Damien’s.”

“You-you can’t be serious,” was my incredulous reply.

“As a fucking heart attack. For your sake, Ginger, the baby better be Damien’s. If not, then regardless of what Damien promised you, you and that child will die. In the meantime, I suggest you make yourself comfortable. My home is the only home you’ll know until this pregnancy is over—assuming the baby is Damien’s, that is.”

She said nothing further and spun on her heel, leaving Smoke to claim witness as I fell hard to my knees and broke down sobbing.

“What’s wrong with her?” I asked at lunch Monday afternoon, my sight narrowed on Samara picking listlessly at her food, a deep frown marring her smooth, elegant, face. “What the fuck did you do?”

My sight steered over to Isaac, who scoffed and offered me a sour look while Phantom choked on his drink, damn near coughing up a lung.

“Wedidn’t do anything—”

“Bullshit,” was Phantom’s rapid reply. “You don’t remember that brutal bitch-slap Samara gave you Friday night?”

“Wait, what?” My gaze flicked between them both as Isaac scowled deeply at Phantom. “Samara was at the party?”

I never knew she was there. Then again, I probably didn’t notice her thanks to being caught up in multiple intense games of beer pong with Lucian Hail, one of the Reaper guys from Clover Bay. I’d relayed news to him he didn’t exactly like, and when he took off, it wasn’t long after that when Phantom cut the fun short and ordered everyone back to their dorms.

“She was,” answered Phantom. “And she caught Isaac getting ready to run off to have a three way with two random females.”

“Are you fucking kidding me right now?” I asked Isaac, watching as his scowl deepened, his brows pinched irately tight.

“We were just dancing. I never intended to sleep with—”

“Bullshit,” Phantom and I pitched in at the same time, which made Isaac close his eyes and breathe in deeply.
