She takes his hand. “These kids. You never know what they’ll get up to.”

Maggie claps some more. “Oh, yay! I can’twaitto go back. It’s so beautiful there… with the cliff and the stars… You guys, that is the perfect venue for you two. Everything started there, right?”

“Started before that, actually,” Cole says.

“Way before,” I add.

I love our story.

I love us.

“I was seventeen when I started to fall in love with Olivia,” Cole says. “It just took me about another decade and a half to figure out what was happening.”

“When did you guys get so sappy?” Trent asks.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Maggie swat at him. Then she hooks her arms around his waist, too.

“They can be as sappy as they want. They saved us by going out to that ranch with us. And also, Olivia’s the one who got us together in the first place. Remember?”

He turns to her. “How could I forget?”

“Oh… we’ll get to go back and see the yurts again!” She sounds pleased. I knew she would be.

Grandpa Ray scratches his gray hair. “Yurts?”

“They’re like round tents, but better,” my grandmother tells him. “Olivia has pictures on her phone.”

“When you’re ready to start really getting into the planning, I can help,” Maggie says.

The meat sizzling on the grill smells good. I nudge Cole and he swipes up his spatula again and starts flipping. Maggie crouches down and circles her arms around Blue.

“You both have the best little flower man right here, you know. Have you started training him for the ceremony?”

Oh, have we ever.

“He’s actually going to carry our rings,” I say. Trent groans a second time.

“A goat, carrying the rings?” Grandpa Ray says. “Seems like a recipe for disaster, to me.”

“Or… will it be a fun adventure?” I tease. “Blue, what do you think? Can you manage it, without running off?”

He looks out at us, and he bleats.

THE END****
