I frown, opening the app, and stare at the blinking dot. It’s not really helpful when it doesn’t show how high up she is, because according to this, she’s close to the center of the building. Where my condo is not.

Our condo.

Whatever.

I yank clothes on, stuff my pockets with my keys and wallet, and head to the elevator. I check her old condo first, but that doesn’t line up. Then Jacob’s floor—not that she’d be there in the middle of the night, even if she was super pissed at me. It’s just after six, and she’s been gone for at least an hour.

To be fair, though, shewassuper pissed when she went to bed.

Shit, and my mom warned me to never go to bed angry. Never mind that I’ve been angry for years straight without reprieve.

That doesn’t match up either. Back on the elevator, down to the gym.

Nope.

Main floor?

I go down a hall and stop outside the women’s restroom.

No…

But really, yes, because my phone’s location is almost on top of hers.

The restroom is empty. I check the stalls, and something makes me stop in front of the trash. It’s mostly empty, but there are a few paper towels at the bottom. I drag the whole thing back out and overturn it on the counter.

There’s aplinkof something hard hitting the surface.

Fuck.

It takes me another minute to find it, brushing away the paper towels, and I pick up the artificial molar.

She took it out.

Damn, the girl is ballsy. Especially when she’s angry.

I call for reinforcements and head back upstairs. The thing is, I have no idea where she’d go. Before, she would’ve run to Beth. Crossed that option off. And she would’ve run to Joel, but I screwed that up for her, too.

Going home would just be going along with what I planned, so, nope.

“Hey.” Greyson pushes open my door. “Am I the first one here?”

“Yes. Yeah. Thank you. She was just—” I show him the tooth. “She pulled it out in the lobby bathroom. Whodoesthat?”

He looks at it. “Did you tell her about it?”

“Well… yeah…”

“Why?”

I scoff. “Why? I don’t know, it just came out.”

He stares at me, then slowly shakes his head. “Listen. We’ve done our fair share of fucked-up shit together. This is just another time, right?”

“Right,” I confirm. “Well, I don’t know what we’re doing besides finding Aurora.”

“Uh-huh. Steele is getting us coffee.”

“Good plan. Good plan.” I rub my hands together and go to the window. Such a great view, and I don’t think I’ve truly enjoyed it since I got here. “Where would you go, Sunny?” I ask the cityscape.
