My lips parted. “Queen Lissandra is a seer?”

“She is.” His look turned pensive, and then he frowned. “She was the greatest seer on our continent until my father caged her power.”

I squeezed his hand, hating the thought of his mother suffering.

The sentry opened the door again. “Sir Fieldstone has asked that you join him in Idaho.”

My mouth dropped. “Idaho? Where’s that?”

The sentry showed us a map of a land with oceans, continents, and seas that I’d never seen before. He pointed to an area on it, on a country labeledUnited States. “This is Idaho. Sir Fieldstone said you were to go to Boise, to the Supernatural Headquarters. He’s given specific instructions with where you should portal transfer.”

“The Supernatural Headquarters in Idaho and Boise.” Sandus cocked his head. “Three locations in one?”

“Boise is a city in the land of Idaho,” the sentry replied, his monotone voice never once showing an ounce of emotion, making me more and more convinced they were animated puppets. “The SupernaturalHeadquarters is an area of employment that Sir Fieldstone frequents.”

“Oh, right! That is where he works in theotherrealm, remember?” I said to Norivun. “He must be working there right now.”

“Do you suppose this Idaho is like the land of Europe?” Haxil scratched his chin.

Norivun shrugged. “You would know better than me. What have your studies told you?”

But Haxil only shook his head. “There are so few texts on theotherrealm upon our continent. I’m afraid my knowledge of its geography is limited.”

“For the Mother’s sake.” Nish rolled his eyes skyward. “Another new place in theotherrealm. What is my job coming to?”

Sandus and Ryder elbowed him simultaneously.

“’Tis for the Solis that we do this, Nish,” Ryder reminded him. “We need to find that warlock, and without Bavar telling us how to reach the Fire Wolf, how else are we to locate him?”

Nish nodded, for the first time looking contrite. “You’re right. ’Tis for the Solis.”

The sentry extended his huge hand, then opened it to reveal half a dozen portal keys in the center of his palm. “Sir Fieldstone has asked that we give you several of these to use.”

“Thank you.” I picked up the portal keys, and a shiver of excitement buzzed through me at where we were about to venture. I turned shining eyes upon my mate. “Ready?”

Norivun shook his head, his lips curving despite the apprehension billowing toward me on the bond. “Life is not going to be boring with you, is it, my love?”

I grinned. “Not if I have anything to say about it.”

CHAPTER 10 - NORIVUN

We all joined hands, and I whispered the words to activate the portal key, the same words that the Fire Wolf had taught us to use when we’d been in Sven’s cabin.

The realm disappeared around us as I firmly anchored my thoughts on the land of Idaho, specifically the location of the Supernatural Forces Headquarters.

As before, when we’d traveled to Europe, the feeling of being ripped apart and torn to pieces from the inside out made magic swirl in my gut.

I ground my jaw, and when we landed in a field, with a blue sky above us and long green grasses swirling around us, I once again had the urge to vomit.

Nish keeled over and emptied his stomach in the field as my other guards and Ilara all rested hands over their bellies while taking deep gulping breaths.

It was only luck that I also didn’t grow sick, especially when the magicless air swirled around us and thatoffsensation bore down on my senses.

“Yuck.” Nish wiped his lips, and a pulse of his magic cleansed his mouth and cheeks. “This realm is quite simply foul.”

I gazed around, searching for the Supernatural Forces Headquarters while Nish continued to grumble.

Hills covered the landscape, and strange-looking trees towered over each hill’s surface. The sun’s light bathed the fields and rolling hills in a reddish-gold as green grass swayed in a breeze that flowed around us.
