A low snarl rumbled in the hunter’s chest, but he unlocked the cuffs from around the warlock and tucked them into his back pocket.

Grinning, the warlock rubbed his wrists. My stomach clenched when a triumphant smile spread across his gray face.

“You’re all fools.” The warlock pulled a portal key from his pocket. “I’ve already planned to meet the Solis king again tonight. I shall be sacrificing a dozen fae lives at dusk, increasing my power so I can re-create that veil once more, and do you know the best thing about it?” He didn’t wait for Norivun’s reply before saying, “There’s nothinganyof you can do about it. The bargain protects me indefinitely from all of you.”

I dropped the worried mask I’d been wearing just as Norivun and the Fire Wolf did the same.

My mate smirked. “You’re right. There’s nothing any ofuscan do about it, butthey, however, can.”

Norivun’s head inclined toward the two dozen SFmembers that appeared through the trees, hidden previously by the prince’s illusion.

Particle guns buzzed as the Supernatural Forces advanced. The warlock’s eyes widened a split second before hellfire rained.

CHAPTER 14 - ILARA

The bargain mark that had appeared following his deal with the warlock fizzled out of existence and disappeared from Norivun’s wrist the second the warlock was dead.

The SF cleaned up the obliterated remains of the dark sorcerer. With two dozen highly trained and experienced SF members against one unsuspecting warlock, the fight had been quick and efficient. The evil sorcerer hadn’t stood a chance.

“Do you feel bad for tricking him so completely?” Haxil asked the prince with a smile.

Norivun’s lips curved upward. “No, not even slightly.”

Haxil laughed and clapped him on the back. “Me neither.”

The Fire Wolf smirked, then said to one of the SF commanders, “I’ll send my bill to headquarters.”

The commander dipped his head. “Wes is expecting it.”

Norivun stepped closer to me and placed a hand on my back, then eyed my wing. His brows pinched together. “I’m going to ask them to give you medical help.”

I scanned the SF members. They were all busy, working hard. Biting my lip, I shook my head. “No, not here. I’ll wait until we reach their headquarters in Idaho. They have enough to deal with as it is.”

Norivun’s frown grew. “But your wing?—”

“I’ll be fine. My wing hasn’t worsened.”

The seven of us stepped away from the clearing, letting the SF finish their job. But when my wing scraped against a tree when I walked too closely to it, and I winced for what felt like the hundredth time, I began to wonder if Ishouldask for help.

Norivun grumbled and stepped closer to me.

Watching me, the Fire Wolf frowned, and I couldn’t help but give him an irritated side-eye. He’d been giving me continual looks ever since they’d found me. “What?”

He shrugged, then raked a hand through his hair, and his fingers tangled in the dark locks. “Sorry, but I keep wondering why you haven’t healed yourself yet.”

“Healed myself?” I repeated. I cocked my head as Norivun and his four guards all paused.

The hunter waved to my wing. “Your magic turns you into an angel, right? Angels have extraordinaryhealing abilities, so this entire time, I couldn’t help but wonder why you haven’t healed your wing yet.”

My eyes bugged out when a moment of clarity hit me. Bavar had said something similar earlier today.“Angels haveextraordinaryhealing power. The likes of which this world has never seen.”

My jaw dropped as the possibility of being able to fix my ruined wing slammed into me. “Do you really thinkIcan heal myself?”

The Fire Wolf shrugged. “I’m assuming you can. Do you not know how?”

I shook my head. “No, I have no idea.”

The hunter grunted. “Well, you should at least try. It would be a pity if you lost the ability to fly.”
