“What? Just like that?” I ask, continuing to rut against him. “You’d let me spread your legs and slide my dick inside of you?”

He nods, swallowing roughly. I see all the trust there for me. Trust I deserve? I’m not so sure, but it’s there anyways.

“Think I’d like that a whole lot.”

“Oh fuck,” I murmur and then shake my head. “Well, we can’t do that here. In a cornfield.”

“Sure can’t,” he says and then leans up, kissing me softly.

My eyes roll back in my head as I hold him to me, the two of us continuing to lick into each other’s mouths, trying like hell to get off, but unable to. It’s just a long edging session, leaving our cocks very unhappy.

Suddenly a bright flashing light makes the two of us freeze, and we both glance over at the man approaching us.

“Well, I’ll be damned. I swear, Jimbob, I didn’t expect it to be you out here.”

It’s the policeman from the meteor shower. Hayes. He’s in uniform, a dopey look on his face.

“Hayes, get out of here,” Jimbob grumbles, still on the ground, his eyes rolling. “You know we don’t mean any harm.”

“Well, it seems you’re on private land, and Ms. Harrison wants you two to leave. Doesn’t want no fornication on the food she may eat.”

Jimbob lets out a snort, and Hayes does too.

“Alright, I guess that’s fair.” Jimbob pats my side and tells me to get up. I don’t really want to but manage to push myself up. Luckily Hayes interrupting made my boner go down, so I’m not flashing the cop and possibly the old lady who is most likely looking at us through binoculars.

Jimbob grabs on to my hand and leads me to his truck, Hayes chattering next to us happily. God, if we were in the city when this happened, we’d have been arrested, or at least escorted home by some surly cops. But Hayes doesn’t seem bothered, even extends a wave to the old hag in the home behind us and then pulls Jimbob into a hug.

“Beers this weekend since you didn’t make it to the bar the other night?” he asks Jimbob, who nods.

“Sure thing. Just text me when we should meet up.”

Hayes’s eyes flash to mine and he lifts his chin.

“You stay out of trouble, young man. This one here is a real troublemaker.”

I scoff at that and Jimbob just chuckles as he pulls me toward the passenger side door.

I slide in as he rounds the car and gets in, the truck roaring to life.

“Back to my place?” he asks, and I nod, but before we can even turn on to the main road, my phone rings and dread fills my stomach.

“Fuck, can you bring me home?” I ask, and Jimbob just nods.

“’Course I can. Everything alright?”

I stare down at the text from my mom and shake my head. “I don’t know. Probably not.”

I turn my body to face the window, glancing out at the darkness surrounding us, wishing I didn’t have to go home at all.

I expect the worst when I walk into the house. Jimbob dropped me off, looking worried and wanting to stay, but I told him to go. I don’t want him to see.

I expect tears and running mascara and a near-comatose state. My heart is thundering in my chest, my palms sweaty as I approach my mom. I don’t want to pick up the pieces yet again. I’m so damn tired of it. But at least this breakup happened pretty damn quick this time. But when I finally find her in her bedroom, my mom is smiling, her painted lips pulled up almost unnaturally. I haven’t seen her smile this big in a long-ass time.

“What happened?” I ask as she continues to beam at me. “Are you okay?” She seems just fine which is just bizarre honestly.

But she doesn’t acknowledge my worries. Instead, she just waves a hand out between us like I shouldn’t be fretting. Like we haven’t been through this so many damn times. Like my whole soul isn’t weary from it.

“Oh, I’m just going away for the week. I needed help packing.”
