“I’m not Avs.”

“I know, honey. But we’ll get through this, I promise.”

God, I hoped so. Silas’s warning was running wild through my head, reminding me that I had to choose the right path. How did I know what the right path was though? I didn’t want to lose the best thing that had happened to me and what we’d been building.

How could I ask my new wife to take on my nephew when I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to?

CHAPTER 12

AVY

I watched as Hawk stormed out of the café towards the blonde standing by a new Mercedes. She was dressed in what looked like a designer outfit from top to toe in tight jeans, knee-high boots, and a plush looking coat.

Unfortunately, I also recognised her from a photo I’d found when Hawk had moved in with me. Not that he’d tried to hide the photo of her, it had been mixed with photos of his family that we’d been looking at. He’d told me straight away who she was.

There was no denying she was beautiful, the total opposite to me. She was tall, probably about five-foot-seven or eight. She had long blonde hair that she wore up in a high ponytail.

He’d never lied to me about his relationship with her, and I knew he didn’t have any time for her or his brother after what they did. Although I think he was more upset by his brother’s betrayal than he was by Rachel’s infidelity. He kept in touch with his ex-sister-in-law and his niece and nephew but that was it.

We all watched as he got to the front of her vehicle and confronted her. I knew her type straight away; she used her looks to get what she wanted. I shook my head as she smiled flirtatiously up at Hawk and reached out as if she was going to kiss his cheek. I snorted a laugh as he pulled back with a look ofhorror on his face that she’d attempted to touch him. The fake look of hurt on her face caused another snort of laughter to erupt from most of the women at the table. The men looked at us as if we were nuts, but they didn’t get it. We knew manipulative when we saw it, and this bitch had it down to a T.

“Do you want to go out there?” Molly asked, looking excited. That was Molly, always ready to rumble even if she looked like she was a hundred weeks pregnant, not the five months that I knew she was.

I grinned at her but shook my head. “Not yet, let’s see what she wants first. If she steps out of line, I’ll go out.”

Molly pouted and huffed out a sigh sheathing the knife she’d taken out when she’d asked her question. “Fine!” she grumbled, making Draco laugh and press a kiss to the side of her head.

‘My man was getting annoyed’I thought as he shoved his hands into his hair and looked up at the sky. His body had gone taut with tension at something she’d said.

He shook his head as she walked away to the back of her car and opened the door. She said something to someone in the back, but we couldn't see who. I stood up so fast that my chair fell back and onto the floor with a loud crack. A little boy with a dark head of hair toddled out from behind the open door and nearly stumbled and fell. She’d not even helped him out.

My heart clenched in my chest as I watched as the small boy was revealed. He looked to be around two years old. He toddled over to stand still next to her, his face tilted to the ground. He was dressed inappropriately for this weather, not a coat or hat in sight and the clothes he was wearing looked like they were a size too small and weren’t clean from what I could see even from this distance.

He lifted his little head as Hawk said something else to his ex-fiancée.

And my breath stalled in my chest because even from this distance, I could see how much he looked like my man.

“What the fuck?” I heard Reaper growl out in anger. I stormed towards the door. Behind me Reaper called out, “Avy!”

Impatiently, I turned to look at my brother over my shoulder, “What?”

“Don’t go out there half cocked, you don’t know what’s happening. Hawk obviously didn’t know about the boy.”

I smiled, I got it now, my big brother was worried. Hawk and I had only just got married and now there was a strange woman here that Hawk obviously knew, and she had a baby with her that looked just like my Old Man. I could see why they were all worried.

“I know the baby isn’t his, Reaper, it’s his nephew. The woman is Hawk’s ex, though. He doesn’t keep shit from me. I know it all,” leaving them with that information I pushed out the door.

Resounding sighs of relief echoed around the café at my words and I’m not sure who it was but a relieved, “Thank fuck,” echoed out.

I was going to find out what she wanted and why that baby had a look on his face that no baby should ever have. As I left the café, the door slamming shut behind me, I heard Mila squeal out a laugh and wondered if this little boy had ever laughed like that.

Walking to my man, I wrapped my arm around his waist. “Talk to me, handsome,” I murmured quietly to my husband.

Hawk’s entire body relaxed as soon as I wrapped my arm around him. He flung his hand out at the woman who’d tensed as soon as I’d made myself know. There was no way she could missthe rings on my finger that I’d purposefully laid against Hawk’s chest. I know she saw them because her nostrils flared slightly at my possessive move.

“Rachel here doesn’t want to be a mother anymore and never has. She dropped him off with her mother when she left the hospital with him nearly two years ago and left him there. But her mum passed away six months ago, and nobody knows where my fucking brother is, so she thought she’d drop their son off with me, so that she can go on holiday with her sugar daddy,” he ground out angrily.

Behind us the café door opened and shut again, and I knew the brotherhood felt like they’d given us enough time and were coming to see what was going on. It made me feel better knowing they were behind us.
