"Sorry doesn't help, Carol. My son is fucking missing, you stupid bitch. He's missing on your watch. My husband and I will be there soon."
I ran out of the pub to my car; I was shaking so bad that I knew I shouldn't be driving. Hearing Hawk shout my name, I stopped and turned; I crumpled as soon as I saw him.
He caught me just before I hit the ground. I was sobbing uncontrollably. “He’s gone, Hawk, someone took him from nursery. Someone took our son,” I sobbed against his chest. I felt like my heart had been wrenched out of my body.
Kaleb had only been mine for a few short months. I may not have birthed him, but he was mine.
Hawk tensed at my words, "What? Baby, you need to calm down and tell me exactly what's happened to Kaleb."
Stepping out of his arms, I took a deep breath, and then another, trying to control my breathing. By now, all the MC that had been in town was on the street with us. Tears welled in my eyes again, but I held them back. I'd had my breakdown and crying wasn't going to find him.
"Kaleb is missing from the nursery. Somebody has taken him, that's all I know. We need to get there and get there now," I cried out brokenly.
Various cries and curses echoed around us at my news. Hawk’s face paled, and he lifted a shaky hand to his mouth, before closing his eyes. When he opened them again, they were stone cold and focused.
Turning around, he pointed at Skinny, snapping out an order, "Get into the nursery's security system and find out who took my son." Skinny saluted and ran down the street towards his bike taking off at speed towards the manor where he had his set up.
"Somebody call Reaper and let him know," Hawk continued. "And then I need one of you to drive Avy and me to the nursery, I'm not steady enough to do it."
"I'll take you," Rogue offered. "We'll need to pick Mila up, anyway."
"Oh my god, Mila," I whispered, feeling guilty. "How could I forget her? I hope she's okay."
"We'll meet you back at Crow Manor," Navy advised as he and Bond jogged back towards the gym.
"I'll see everyone is updated," Carly said, reaching out to hug me blinking back tears. "Please keep us informed of any news. We’ll start closing down the businesses so we can help look."
Nodding that I would do that, I took the hand Hawk held out to me andjogged to the car with him. Getting in just as my phone rang. Seeing it was Reaper, I put it on speaker, answering tearfully, "Kane, someone took him."
"I know, Avs, I'm sorry, sis. Can you fill us in?"
"I don't know anything else, we’re just on our way to the nursery. Rogue is driving us, and we'll get Mila. Hawk has asked Skinnyto check the security footage so that we can see who it was. It can't have been Rachel because they had a photo of her and knew not to let him go with her.I'll give you a call back as soon as I can, we're just pulling into the nursery car park. Greg is here so I'll see what he has to say," I snivelled, wiping at my nose and eyes, as we pulled into the parking lot and stopped next to the patrol car.
The car hadn't even come to a stop and Hawk was out and stalking towards Carol and Greg.Saying goodbye, I ended the call and got out. Rogue put his arm around my shoulders.
Hawk was furious. He was pointing a finger in Carol’s face when we got to them. If ever anybody thought he didn't love Kaleb, they'd know they were wrong.
"You had better hope we find my son and that not a hair on his head has been hurt," Hawk raged at her. "Now go and get my niece, so that we can get her home to her parents, where she'll be safe."
Carol winced at his words but didn't say anything, just turned and walked back into the nursery to do as he bid.
Hawk turned to Greg, "What do you know?"
"Not much, other than they had some temp staff and one of them is missing. I'm assuming she's the one that took Kaleb. They've given us access to the security footage, and we'll check it again, but my guess is that the person who took him was the temp woman.”
“Come with me,” Greg said, lowering his voice as he took Hawk’s arm, walking him further away from his colleagues. Rogue and I followed on behind them.
"I've sent Skinny the video to save time. I've also sent him the woman’s name and all the information I could find on her. Ihope that's enough for him to work with. It will be quicker for you guys to look than it will for me to go via our channels."
"Thank you, Greg," I whispered.
"I hope you find him, Avy. I don't have to tell you that time is of the essence in these cases. You know that already. To keep the rest of my colleagues from you, I've volunteered myself and Rod to come and get a statement.Rod is the type to turn a blind eye, especially in cases such as these. Once you get Mila, head home and we'll follow."
Hawk nodded. Reaching for me, he wrapped an arm around me and pulled me tight to his side. I could feel the tears welling again. Kaleb had been through so much in his short life, it wasn't fair that he'd have to go through more.
Just then Carol came out with Mila, Rogue left us to go and get her. Saying goodbye to Gary, Hawk and I walked back to our car. Carol tried to say something as we walked past her, but I ignored her. I couldn’t look at her. I was itching to hit something and if she said the wrong thing, it would be her.
We needed to get home and see what had been found. My heart hurt, I just hoped that wherever Kaleb was he was okay.
