Both Reaper and Navy nodded.

“It’s them, they left another message.”

Both Reaper and Navy relaxed their stance. “Thank fuck,” Reaper said softly. “At least we know they’re friendlies.”

There was a loud bang from the common room, and we jumped, then winced when Avy shouted angrily, “Who the fuck gave Rea permission to drug me? And what’s happening on finding my son?”

To be fair, I don’t think anyone told Rea to sedate Avy, she did it because she knew Avy needed a break.

I stood up from the chair, Navy taking my place to watch the screen and walked out to the common area to find my very angry wife, hands on hips, eyes flashing as she paced up and down.

“Sweets,” I said gently.

“Fuck you and your sweets, Hawk. You allowed them to drug me while our son is missing and now I don’t know what’s happening,” Avy ground out as she stopped in front of me.

Reaching out, I grabbed her and pulled her to me, needing to feel her in my arms even if she was angry with me.

“We know where he is,” I whispered against her temple. Jerking back, Avy looked at me, “Well, why are you all standing here twiddling your balls? Why isn’t he home?”

I’d rather have this Avy – an angry Avy was far better than a sad Avy.

Twining my fingers with hers, I pulled her to Skinny’s office, explaining, “I think it’s better if I show you first and then explain. Ignore the timer in the corner and people bidding on our son. It’s not going to happen.”

Navy got up off the chair so that Avy could sit down, tears instantly welled in her eyes until they were overflowing down her cheeks, “Oh, baby boy, those fucking bastards,” shewhispered, pressing the tips of her fingers to the screen as if she could touch him.

Another chat box opened up with a message before disappearing just as quickly.

Tell wife. Safe. Bring home. Soon.

Well, that answered my internal question on how they seemed to know what we were saying and doing. Somehow, they were in our systems and could hear and see us.

Avy looked at me with wide eyes, “I think you had better bring me up to speed.”

Pulling her up off the chair, I sat down and pulled her back down to sit on my lap so that we could watch Kaleb as he slept. I’m guessing the water they’d been given had been drugged. I filled her in on what had been happening.

Throughout the day we’d all taken turns watching the monitor, but Avy and I had been at the computer for the last hour. I had a feeling it would be happening soon.

It was midnight when another message popped up.

Go Time. Video Off. Home Soon.

Avy let out a pained cry as the screen went blank, Kaleb’s image gone. Before turning into me and crying her eyes out. I held on tight, hoping and praying that my faith in the four strange bikers wasn’t unfounded.

CHAPTER 18

AVY

Waking up, my head foggy, my mouth tasting like something had set up home and died in it and my bladder so full it actually hurt. My first thought was that we must have partied hard last night and then the day came back to me with a rush, and I doubled over. The pain I felt when I remembered that Kaleb was missing was a physical pain.

Taking deep breaths until I calmed down, I stood up from my bed and stomped angrily to the bathroom to do my thing. Once I was done, I stormed downstairs to find out which motherfucker drugged me. Nobody was home, so I grabbed some fruit on my way out and stormed over to the clubhouse, slamming open the door with a bang. There was nobody in the main common room. Reaper and Hawk came out of Skinny’s office at my angry shout.

I almost broke when Hawk took me in his arms, then I did break when I saw Kaleb’s sweet face on the screen with that bloody timer counting down and the astronomical amount of money being bid getting higher and higher. My stomach hurt thinking about the sick fucks that were bidding on two babies. Hawk filled me in on what was happening, and we spent the rest of the day watching Kaleb and the little girl with him sleep for most of it. Hawk thought they’d been drugged because they’d been asleep for a long time.

When we’d got the message that the screen was being switched off, I cried, hoping against hope that he’d be home soon.

Two o’clock found Hawk and me pacing up and down the common room. Everyone was with us except for the new mothers and babies, who we’d sent home.

Rea had told me to wake her up when Kaleb got home so that she could check him out.
