Three o’clock found us drinking cup after cup of coffee, as we still hadn’t heard any news. By the time four o'clock rolled round, all of us were on our feet and Skinny was trying to find any news on what was happening. All we’d been able to find so far was that a warehouse on the docks had blown up and was on fire, the fire had been controlled before it could spread. All available fire engines had been called out to the blaze.

Four-thirty found Hawk pulling on his hair nervously. I knew him. He was worried that he’d put his trust in the wrong people, but I didn’t think so.

It was close to five am when we heard the sound of the bikes, and I started running towards the main gate. Reaper had already opened it when four bikes rolled in with the giants that had been waiting for Hawk outside his shop all those months ago.

I skidded to a stop and waited for them to switch their bikes off, Hawk next to me as we scanned them, wondering if there was a vehicle following them because I couldn’t see Kaleb anywhere.

Lifting shaking hands to my mouth, I beseechingly whispered, “Where is he?”

The biker that had spoken to Hawk, lifted a hand to the zip on his coat and started to pull it down. There, safe and warm against his chest, nestled Kaleb. He lifted his head and as soonas he saw us, started squirming, saying repeatedly, “Mummy, Mummy.”

That was it. I couldn’t wait any longer. I rushed over and took him from Silas, hugging and kissing him all over his face. Hawk’s arms wrapped around us, his shoulders shaking, then he took Kaleb from me and hugged him, pressing a kiss to his head, whispering brokenly, “I missed you, little man.”

My heart was full, we had him back. Without thinking, I threw my arms around Silas, ignoring the way he stiffened at my touch. The man was going to get a thank you hug, whether he liked it or not.

“Thank you. Thank you for bringing him home.”

Awkwardly, he patted my back, and in a deep voice that seemed a little rusty, like it didn’t get used much, he replied, “You’re welcome.”

Hawk brought Kaleb back to me. I knew the rest of the family would want to see him, but for now, they were holding back. Reaper was talking to one of the bikers, probably introducing himself. I laughed and it may have had a slight touch of hysteria to it when Kaleb said in a serious tone, “Daddy, I no like those peoples.”

“I know, buddy, I no like them either,” Hawk told him, handing him back to me where he snuggled his little head right into me.

“Love you, baby boy.”

“Luff you, Mummy.”

With those words, my soul was complete. I went around and thanked the rest of the bikers; I can’t lie, they freaked me out a little bit because they were scary as fuck. But I would be forever grateful for them. We invited them to stay and have somethingto eat, but they assured us they had to get going. Not twenty minutes after they pulled in, they were gone again.

It made me wonder where they lived. At least we now had their names: Cahir was the leader or what we would consider the president if we were thinking in terms of motorcycle clubs. Silas was his second in command or VP, Cai was his advisor although the man didn’t talk so I wasn’t sure who he advised but I guess he had his ways and Ramzi was the techy one and it had been him we’d been speaking to on the chats.

Once everyone had welcomed Kaleb home and Rea had checked him over, Hawk and I bathed him and, with no discussion, we took him to bed with us. Neither of us would be able to sleep without him being within touching distance.

It would be a long time before I would be comfortable leaving him anywhere.

With that thought in mind, I drifted off to sleep, Hawk behind me and Kaleb in front, both Hawk’s and my arms holding him to us.

It was late afternoon when we woke up and I knew it was going to take a couple of days until we were back in a routine.

I was buzzing with plans already forming. I wasn’t going to be putting Kaleb back in a nursery that I didn’t think was safe.

Hawk kissed us both goodbye, as he had to get back to the shop. My managers had told me they were fine and that they would manage but would call me if there was an emergency. We’d notified Greg that Kaleb had been found and with Reaper’s help, he had put out a simple statement that Kaleb’s mother had taken him but had felt guilty and he’d been dropped off at our gates this morning and that no, the police didn’t know where she was, but they were looking for her. The simpler, the better we thought.

I put a call out to all the women in our club; it wasn’t long and we were all congregated around the kitchen table to brain storm my idea of opening our own nursery on our property. We’d run background checks on the staff, and it would be secure within our fences. With our growing families it would be needed, and I pointed out that if I was going to be lining someone’s pocket by paying for childcare, I would rather it be ours.

Julia immediately put a call in to her brother and he said he’d be out the next morning to have a look, organise planning and get a quote to us.

Kaleb started to have nightmares the night after he arrived back home, and it took weeks of care, love, and attention, but they eventually dwindled back until he was sleeping through the night.

He was a mummy’s boy through and through, but when Hawk was around then he was a daddy’s boy. Made me wonder what this next one was going to be like.

About three months after Kaleb had been kidnapped, it suddenly hit me that I hadn’t had a period for a while. Not saying anything to anyone, I’d made an appointment and been seen quite quickly by the midwife at our GP Surgery. I went to the first scan by myself because I wasn’t sure how far along I was, and I wanted to surprise Hawk. Imagine my surprise when I found out I was over sixteen weeks. I knew my clothes had been getting tighter but figured it was because I couldn’t seem to stop eating everything in sight. I guess that should have been my first clue.

Thanking the technician, I took the scans, popped them in my bag, and left the hospital. My first stop was the café where I picked up lunch for Hawk, me, and his receptionist. Yes, he’d finally found someone to man the front desk, and he’d also hired another tattoo artist. Neither of who had come via the usualchannels. His receptionist had been brought by Ben, who had asked if Hawk could trial her for a month as she needed a break. Kelly was a sweet girl no older than eighteen who’d grown up rough. She had the scars to prove it, not just internal ones but external ones too.

His tattoo artist Raven had walked in one day with all his own equipment, handed Hawk a note and started setting up in one of the empty booths. Turns out he was a distant family member of one of the four giants that had rescued Kaleb. We knew a bit more about them now, not much, but a bit more.

Skinny had found out from an underground source that they were known as the Cursed Skulls. The last time they’d swept through the village, they’d each had a tattoo inked into them by Hawk depicting the name they were known as with a kickass skull.
