“You’re welcome.” She grinned.

When the doors closed, he sagged against the railing behind him. She'd hit every exposed nerve with precision. He didn't like how she could strip away the bullshit and lay him bare. It was unnerving and a bit overwhelming. What she hadn't pointed out was his guilt. He didn't have a reason to carry the burden of such a heavy emotion, but he did. Tristan had done a number on Will.

After he changed into his evening attire, he returned to the lobby and found the girls waiting on him. They were all dressed to the nines and the relaxed atmosphere surrounding them, pulled him in, washing away some of his hesitations for the night. “So, where are we going?”

“I found this fusion restaurant,” Angie said. “It’s called 1°. It combines fusion cuisine with cryogenic cooking.”

Interesting. “Lead the way.” Will followed behind them as they stepped out into the late afternoon/early evening heat.

Kristen joined him as they waited for their vehicles to be pulled up. “Did you have a good day?”

He nodded. “So far.”

“Good.” She let out a breath. “We saw you talking to Roxy. Everything okay?”

He chuckled softly. “Yes. Stop worrying so much.” He and Roxanne shared something special—well—her, Kayla, and him more specifically and the bond between them would last a lifetime. He understood Roxanne’s concern, hell, all of their concerns. But, it’d been easy to keep it all inside. Roxanne, however, saw through it, and she called him out for it.

“Going to tell me what you talked about?” Kristen hedged.

“Nope,” he teased. “Not even a little bit.”

She pouted. “Fine.”

Will tugged her into his side and hugged her. “Thank you.”

1° was more popular than he expected. Angie hadn’t thought to make a reservation, so they were left to wait until they were called. While they waited, it gave them time to plan for their evening at the club. Kristen pulled the place up on her phone. It was pretty swank. It was more of a lounge than a club with huge sitting areas. They boasted about having some of the best DJs in Florida as well.

“Explain to me what this has to do with your new book?” Will glanced up from the screen.

“This isn’t the first one I’ve been to.” She retrieved her phone from him. “It’s all about the ambiance and the thrill.”

“Thrill?” He quirked a brow.

"Well, yes." She shrugged. "You know, dark corners and hookups."

“Naughty,” Will teased. “Wouldn’t it be better if you had Devon with you?”

She shrugged. “Who says he hasn’t been?”

Angie, Kayla, Roxanne, and Kat laughed.

“Dirty.” Will shook his head, but he also couldn’t deny the kick of anticipation or the excitement of being seen.

“I’m also looking for quick escapes and if they can be done without being caught,” Kristen added. “In case the bad guys interrupt a moment.”

Well, throw cold water on that happy fantasy. “Coitus interruptus doesn’t sound like your book M.O.”

“It’s not, but this book.” She sighed. “The entanglements are a bit deep.”

“How many more clubs are you going to go to before you write the scene?” he pressed. It seemed, to him, she was procrastinating.

“Last one,” she said. “I have pictures of the others and with these, I can make my own.”

“Then maybe she’ll finish the book,” Angie muttered.

“Don’t sound so butthurt,” Kristen chided. “I’m going as fast as my little fingers can go.”
