No wonder his people never desired to go beyond the borders. He wondered how many of them had the curiosity to explore what was beyond.

It seems I’ve spoiled them, he wondered thoughtfully.

When he finally entered the dining hall, he was taken back to see Princess Mierna already awake. Sitting on the far end of the table, she ate slowly and distractedly with her nose in something set on the table. A book. Her eyes squinted with each page she turned, thoroughly curious and absorbed, so much so that she didn’t notice the cream dripping from her bread and right onto her–

Travus looked away immediately, the implanted memories from the sleep spell she had put on him last night, were flashing in his mind. He was fully embarrassed of the way he’dthoughthe’d ravished her...

Must she be so well endowed? He thought helplessly.I’m the nefarious Elven king of Eldoria. I must pull myself together.

“Princess Mierna, did you not complain about how cold my castle was?” Travus called out loudly. Her sweetheart neckline rested low over her bosom but laid securely against her curves. Her cloak was nowhere to be found, leaving her in short sleeves that revealed her slender yet toned arms that shimmered in the sunlight that filtered past the sheer curtains.

She looked up from her book, unfazed. “Good morning to you too, your majesty. Did you rest well?”

“You don’t have to pretend to be concerned for me.”

She smirked at him. “Ah. So you did.”

There was a tick in his jaw as he realized that Princess Mierna knew exactly what she was doing.

“You truly have no shame, do you?”

“Don’t make me remind you, that you were the one waiting for me in the bath. I only fulfilled your expectations.” she chuckled mischievously and returned to her book.

If he had been holding something in his hand, it would’ve snapped in two. Instead, his fingernails dug into his palms hard enough to bleed.

“But don’t be too hard on yourself, your majesty,” she continued so nonchalantly that it felt like mockery, “Nymphs like myself are revered for their effortless charm. If anything, our diplomatic arrangement is more a test for your own resolve than my resilience.”

That was it. Travus wouldn’t stand for this humiliation any longer. He marched over to her, each footstep sending tremors through the ground strong enough to make the plates clatter lightly on the tabletop. Princess Mierna remained unfazed as he loomed over her, his shadow blocking out the sunlight she needed to read.

She was about to bite into the bread she dipped in her fresh cream until he grabbed her jaw–gently–and forcedher to look up at him. His thumb pressed into her cheek warningly and caused her lips to pucker, but he wouldnotbe distracted.

“May I remind you that you’re onmyterritory with no escape,” he growled, his fingers sliding down to close in around her neck. “Talk is all you’re capable of, Princess. Do not forget who wanted this arrangement, in hopes of saving your kingdom.”

He watched as some cream slipped off the edge of her bread, dripping onto the bare skin of her voluptuous cleavage, again.

“Don’t tempt me,” he continued softly, darkly, as he leaned close with his hand sliding past her shoulder, “to have my way with you.” It settled on her rib right under her breast. His voice was now a threatening whisper that had her warming up right under his palm and making her body flush. Her breathing grew heavier despite her attempts to remain composed.

She gasped. He moved away from her face and let his warm tongue run over her jaw down to the curve of her neck. She didn’t resist. He had succeeded in arousing her, and he was pleased.

His teeth sunk into her tender flesh, careful enough to do nothing more than leave a bruise. She shuddered as he sucked around the punished spot, letting his tongue runover soothingly to enjoy her slightly salty skin one last time before finally pulling away.

“Let this be a reminder of my oath,” he drawled as a bloom of purple and blue graced her skin. “I will mark you every time you forget. Don’t try to run from me.”

Princess Mierna’s head remained turned away from him, her entire face red with embarrassment. A bead of sweat running past her collarbone from her neck. He didn’t realize just how small she was in his grasp until that moment, and he wondered how someone like her managed to wrap him around her finger so easily last night. Oh, how he wished he could remember how it all happened.

But no matter, things would change now. He would reclaim his power in this convoluted game of cat-and-mouse.

He let go of her rather reluctantly and turned away from her. His skin yearned for her body with each step he took toward the doors of the dining hall, hot blood coursing through his veins.

“I’ll have my meal in my room,” he grunted to the maid servant at the door as he stepped out into the hall. “Don’t make me wait.”

It didn’t take long before a beautiful woman–whose name he didn’t even care to know–was there with his breakfast, smiling daintily. As in the past, she was there formore. As her hands traversed his impeccable stature with wonder, it wasn’t satisfying enough for him.

This woman was too ready to give herself to him. He did not need to work for her approval. She was too easy. She did not sound like Mierna. The Princess would be an exploration, not a routine.

He missed her already.
