"Who'da thunk it? Maybe I'll be hearing you say the same words one day, too."

My phone buzzes, and I check it to see Luna has sent me a picture of her stretched across the bed with a pout. She captioned it with the word sad and a sad emoji face. The phone buzzes again and this time she's sitting up, the sheet pulled up, barely covering her naked body, her messy hair framing her face as she stares into the camera, leaving no doubt about the thoughts in her eyes.

Lust rages through me, and I curse that I had to leave her so early.

Kingsley: Fucking gorgeous. But I'm old, remember? You might actually be giving me a heart attack. Good thing that Damien is around to see me die on camera.

Luna: I was thinking of you watching what I'm about to do on camera. But I don't think you're going to want Damien to see that.

Kingsley: I would prefer to not have to gouge my own brother's eyes out, thank you.

Luna: That's some sexy talk right there, Mr. Baxter.

Kingsley: I'm known for it, Miss Pham. Would you like another sample of some of my sexy talk? Something something get naked.

Luna: Wow. Hot. Certainly charmed all the clothes off me.

Kingsley: Not like you came to bed with too many clothes to start off with.

Luna: Actually, I was wearing your T-shirt when I came to bed. But you made quick work of that.

Kingsley: You seemed hot. I didn't want you overheating during your sleep.

Luna: And yet you made sure I overheated multiple times before I actually fell asleep.

Kingsley: The British Heart Foundation recommends 3000 minutes of cardio a week. I'm just trying to keep your heart healthy, Moonshine.

Luna: I think you may have added some extra zeros to that number. Is that how you became so successful in your business negotiations as well? Just adding extra digits to your invoices?

Kingsley: The only way you're going to get my secrets out of me, are if I get more pictures...

Luna: You first.

It takes a few more messages back and forth before Damien clears his throat and I realize that I haven't said anything in several minutes.

I put the phone down as if I wasn't just sexting with my late mentor's daughter and stare at him, blankly. "What?"

"You sure there's nothing you want to talk to me about?"

"Nope."

"Okay. I'm just going to say I was accused of making faces like the ones you're making right now, when I first started seeing My-Linh."

"Can't imagine what you're talking about. You're just seeing everything through happy whipped married life eyes."

"Yeah. I'm just saying... it changes you. In ways that you don't expect. And sometimes, you don't even know that it's changed you. Only someone who knows you really well can see it."

He gives me one last pointed look, and logs off.

Leaving me with too much to think about, and no answers to ease my mind.

Unknown Caller: Got your“gift”. You’re kidding if you think it’s enough. Guess you’ll beheading from me again soon

I hardly see Kingsley for days after the incident in the lobby with his uncle. He spends hours holed up with his PR team, running out countless times during meetings for calls from board members, his brothers and his core strategy team. Coming back his face is dark and stormy.
