He nods. "I'll see you next Saturday."

He steps into his shoes and begins to walk to the door. I crawl to the end of the bed, trying to dissuade myself from asking what my mind is telling me to. Or maybe, it's my heart. In the end, when he's almost to the bedroom door, the words seem to blurt out on their own volition.

"Can I ask you another question?"

He stills, a moment of silence before he answers, "Yes."

"Did you want to text me, or call me, throughout the week?"

Another moment of silence. "Yes."

He walks out of the room while I smile and get off of the bed. I hear the door close just as I get the robe off the hook on the back of the door. Putting it on, I go into the living room and sit on the huge couch, finally taking in the room. I was right, he got the presidential suite. I get the menu off of the table in front of me and pick up the phone beside me.

"Front desk. How can I help you?"

"Hi. I'd like two slices of the triple chocolate cake."

"Will that be all?"

I look at the clock on the wall. "Can I also get a steak?"

"Of course, ma'am. How would you like it?"

I eat much, much more than I should have last night, staying up until three ordering everything that caught my eye, and ordering a movie to watch in the bedroom. Waking up, I feel like I'm coming out of a food coma to my phone ringing. When I look at it and see it's my sister, I'm instantly alert, swiping the screen to answer her call.

"Char? Are you okay?"

She doesn't answer at first, her cries and sniffles coming through the phone. I toss the sheets off of myself and rush out of bed, hurrying to remove the robe as I head for my clothes still on the living room floor.

"Soph," she croaks.

"Char, what is it? Did your fever come back? Did the bloodwork say something is..."

"I'm on the list!" she exclaims, and a shuddering breath escapes me.

My hand goes to my mouth. "What?"

"They just came and told me. I'm on the list. I'm on the fucking list, Sophie."

I scream along with her, jumping around the hotel room.

"You scared the shit out of me, Char. Next time lead with that news instead of crying. I was tearing through this damn hotel room like a maniac trying to get dressed."

"Hotel room?"

Dumbass.I curse at myself. How the hell could I let my happiness make me forget to act like I'm sitting at home like I would be any other Sunday morning.

"I take it your second date went well, then." Charlotte chuckles. "Or is still going, because he damn sure better have stayed the night."

"Yeah," I lie. "I probably just woke him up with my scream."

"Oh, I would hope if you spent the night with him that it's not the first time he heard you scream. Otherwise, he wasted your time."

"I cannot stand you sometimes, you little freak."

"Hey, I've got to have a sex life through you these days. And let's just say you've really been lacking lately."

"So sorry to have disappointed you." I chuckle.
