“You stupid cunt!”

A movement in the corner caught my eye, and I turned to see Dallas.

“Hi,” she said sheepishly.

“Baby, what are you doing down here?” I pulled her to me, trying to shelter her from the view of Axel and the guy.

“Well, I saw him on the cameras and I came to stop him. He tried to grab me and I.. well…”

“You what, Dallas?”

“Maybe I pepper sprayed him.”

“Maybe?” I questioned.

“I did.”

“You pepper sprayed him?”

“Just a tiny bit.”

“You pepper sprayed him just a tiny bit?”

“Okay, maybe it was a lot.”

“Let me get this straight. You saw someone on the camera, so you left the safety of the office and came down to the kitchen–alone–to make a man twice your size stop vandalizing the club?” I felt like I was going to vomit. She could have been killed.

“It was very brave.”

“It was very naughty.”

“It was a little brave.”

“It was very naughty.”

“I specifically told you to stay in the office, Dallas,” Onyx scolded.

She shuffled from foot to foot. “He had spray paint.”

“Oh, yeah. I see it. What color is it?” I asked.

“R-red?”

“That’s right. The same color your ass is going to be when we get home.”

“Nu,” she whined. “I was helping.”

“No, you were putting your safety at risk.”

“Can you take care of this?” I asked Onyx as I motioned to the chaos in the kitchen. Thankfully, Axel had subdued the college kid and was on the phone with someone–probably the police… again.

“No problem. Make sure you get some swats in for me.” He glared at Dallas. “I am very disappointed in you, Little girl. I gave you clear orders that were meant to keep you safe. You disobeyed them and put yourself in serious danger.”

Dallas looked at her feet. She was a sensitive soul, and I was sure his disappointment hurt her heart.

“Answer Onyx, Dallas.”

“Yes, Sir. I’m sorry, I should have listened to you," she whispered, still looking at her feet.
