“Society?”

“Fuck society,” he answered quickly.

“She deserves better than a thirty-seven-year-old high school dropout as her man.”

“You’re not your past, man. Besides, now you’re a successful, thirty-seven-old club owner,” Maddox reminded me.

I didn’t point out the reason I owned the club was because I inherited it when my dad died.

“How long have you been trying to hide your feelings?” Travis asked.

“Eight months.”

Both men gave a low whistle.

“That’s a long time to hide how you feel about someone,” Maddox said in a way that made me feel like he’d been in a similar situation.

“Yeah.”

“You know what our world is like. I don’t need to remind you how many fake Doms exist in this lifestyle. If you have a chance to be the Daddy she needs, I don’t think you should waste it because you’re worried about a promise you made to her brother—a brother who would probably be elated his baby sister had someone who’d cherish her like you will,” Travis said.

“Was your friend like us?” Maddox asked. “Did he share our particular interests?”

“Yeah. Yeah, he did. He was a Daddy.”

“Then don’t you think he would want you to be that for her? If I had a sister, I’d want to know she was with a man who would show her how much beauty is found in relationships like ours,” he added.

“Well said.” Travis raised his bottle and tapped it to Maddox’s. They looked at me, and I laughed. I picked mine up and mirrored their movements.

“To Pike and the cute little bartender,” Maddox cheered, and I groaned.

Chapter 1

Pike

I watched Dallas on the security cameras. She was lying on the couch, but she was restless. Something had triggered her asthma and I’d sent her home from the bar early. She was alone, though, and I was worried about her. I thought about calling her friend Emily, but Emily seemed genuinely terrified of me. I didn’t want to traumatize the poor girl.

She coughed a few times before rolling onto her side. She pulled her zombie lovie, Teefs, closer to her. The action tugged at my heart.

I closed the app, grabbed my jacket and keys, and left my office. I was going home. My Bitty Baby was sick, and I wasn’t letting her be sick alone.

“I’m out. Call me if you need me,” I told my best friend and assistant manager, Onyx.

“Is Dallas okay?”

“She’s still coughing pretty badly. I’m worried about her being alone.”

“Yeah, me too. Let me know if y’all need anything.”

I thanked him before walking out of the bar, climbing onto my bike, and driving home. I usually loved riding the Harley down the back roads, but tonight I was too worried about Dallas. I pulled into the garage just as she stepped out of the house. She was holding Teefs in her arms. I cut off my bike and removed my helmet.

“You should be in bed, Bitty,” I scolded.

“And you should be at work,” she sassed.

I raised my eyebrow at her tone. “I was worried about you.”

“I’m a grown woman. I can take care of myself.”
